![]() Where can I find a small map of my city, maybe 2 inches square that I need to use on a website?
So far I've found some on Google (are these okay to use)? And in particular, I've found one on another website. Can I use that? Any other ideas? |

One possibility is to look for a US Government produced map. Works by the US Government are, in general, not copyrighted. (E.g. see this link.) Let's say you live in Schenectady, NY. (I have a cousin there!) You could go to http://images.google.com , and do a search for schenectady map site:.gov Here's the result... http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...+map+site:.gov You'll see a bunch of maps on US Government web sites, related to Schenectady. To my understanding, in general US Government works are not copyrighted, unless they are produced for the US Government by a contractor. (In that case, the work could be copyrighted by the contractor.) Sometimes on the website, it will explicitly clarify the copyright status of the work... I hope that helps! Cheers, ![]() Dien
