Default Christmas is coming.... What gifts will be HOT this year?

Here's the way the trend seems to be going....

The trend seems to be that people are buying (for others and for themselves) more LOW-TECH gifts which ground them in the "real world"....

Among the fastest growing categories in the home decoratives industry were frames (sales up 97 percent); tabletop gifts (up 32 percent); vases/urns/pots (up 32 percent); and decorative boxes and tins (up 19 percent).

Interestingly, HALLOWEEN decorations went up (by 53% last year), while Christmas decorations went down (by 11%)....

Sales of music boxes grew by a whopping 74%....

LOW-TECH isn't dead.... Some people are reacting against all the high-tech stuff, so it seems good to keep a foot in the REAL WORLD with physical products if you have a good gift product!

May I be the first to say Happy Holidays Everyone!
(Stop throwing things! We are marketers, right?!?!?!?!?)

***How interesting! I find my favorite gifts to give are actually things I have created with my own hands....homemade edible treats like my applesauce or pumpkin cookies or my personal favorites....peanut butter cookies with a Hershey's kiss in the middle...

Last year I made plates with my poem Now Begin decopaged onto them. They turned out absolutely beautiful. Each plate took maybe 15 minutes, and while I do not think I am particularly artistic, they looked stunning AND had a powerful message as well.

Gifts from my heart and soul are the ones I most love to give and receive....

****Music is a heart and soul thing...at least for me! As are candles...nothing like a yummy scented candle, and a room lit entirely from candles!

I wrote in another thread that I am building a website for my father for Christmas. That is the ultimate high tech/high touch item. I am giving it all my heart, reaching to his heart and I am using a high tech medium.

Uh oh! My creative mind is taking off! I better write some stuff in my idea journal......signing off for now....

Cracking myself up,

JULIE

Creating Passionately....
