Questions About Becoming a Reseller

I have a potential client that has several websites. I want to have him pay me so much a month, while I'll pay HostGator.

I have a basic amount of website knowledge, know a little html, ect. Do think I'll be able to maintain his sites okay if he wants to do minor changes (and some text and images, or maybe a newsletter signup, ect)?? With a basic, limited knowledge should I be okay without there being any major problems?

Not knowing specifically what you know or don't, I wouldn't bet on your success from what you've stated. There's a lot more than 'a little html knowledge' required to do some things on sites. You'll probably be in over your head rather quickly as folks often start out saying 'I only need....(minimal stuff)' and graduate to 'But you said I could so why can't I...?' type of things. Don't put yourself on the spot unless you're a very quick learner and you have a knowledgeable person you can consult with.

As far as website knowledge... Google has a few Million or so pages of Free web tutorials etc. ready and available for sharing if you apply the right keywords...

I agree with sandi:

Just knowing a little bit about web maintenance will not get you anywhere with your client. If you are a good MANAGER then find someone who IS good at website management and contract with them. A little less money but some is better than none. Your name is all you have right now, don't screw it up by taking on work that you cannot do.
