Default How can I estimate the loading speed for my URL at differnt connection speeds?

I'm building a new website that is graphic, video and audio intensive and need to determine what the average loading times will be on different browsers and ISP connection speeds. I remember seeing a site somewhere that would show you the load time for your url but can't find the address. Can anyone here point me to a tool like that?

Thanks,
Steve Shulenski

I did a search on "load speed for my url" and found a bunch of tools, none of which do what you want. However, you can use any of them to find the total size of your page(s) and then plug them into this tool:

http://www.csgnetwork.com/csdlspeedcalc.html

That one gives you load times for all the connection speeds for a particular size of download. I searched for "load time vs. connection speed".

Kind of an around the barn approach, but should give you what you need.

Hi Steve,

Here's a few other related tools and options to use in testing things...

Steve,

here's a tool that's mighty useful for what you're after called * WebSpeed Simulator * for Windows® 95/98/NT/Me/2000/XP

http://xat.com/wo/index.html

Features:

See how your web site will look on slow links
Make sure text and graphics are loading as you expect
Highlight HTML and Java coding errors
Quality check the designs of your authoring company
Simulate speeds from 1200 bps crawl to LAN speed
View statistics and download times
Identify areas of your site that could be speeded up
Works with dynamic HTML and ASP sites
Safe to try: does not interfere with you machine setup or network

I'm not an affiliate.

Hope this helps.

Rick
