![]() I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why the visits to my site http://SpokaneCars.org jumped up from about 500 - 1000 a month, up to over 6,000 a month in one month? I have done no advertising and I don’t even have any vehicles listed on it. It’s been on page one of Google & all the other major search engines for the term “Spokane cars” for over a year now. Anyway, if I am getting that many visits, I should probably start selling some listings on it. Here’s my hit page http://spokanecars.org/plesk-stat/webstat/
Thanks For Your Help, Jason Hatchett |

I had a look at your website's stats... It really seems to shoot up around May 18th onwards. If you look at your April stats, and you look at the "Top 30 of 217 Total Sites" stats, you see the top two are both from cuil.com, for a total of 27 visits (12+15=27)... Now, look at the stats for May. Under the "Top 30 of 252 Total Sites" stats, you'll see that 20 out of the top 30 sites are from cuil.com. The total visits from these are approx. 5800 (I made an estimate rather than add them all up). In the stats for June so far, look at the "Top 30 of 118 Total Sites" stats. The top 20 sites are all from cuil.com, for a total of approx. 6400 visits. Anyhow, from all this, it looks like most of your visits are from cuil.com, i.e. http://www.cuil.com , which is a search engine. Since the sites have names like "crawl-7c.cuil.com" it seems to be their "bot" crawling your site for new updates to add to their search engine. By the way, I had a look at our stats (at Sowpub), and cuil.com isn't "crawling" here anywhere near as much as it is yours! I don't know why Cuil loves your website so much. ![]() I hope that helps, though... Best wishes! Dien |

![]() Dien,
General opinions out there suggests that Cuil is pretty much a Dead search engine soon to be buried without a Funeral... ![]() But Nobody really knows Truly on what those Invisible Bots can Do when you're not looking, Testing and Feeding particularly interesting Niche url's into those Bot connections... You just Never know... ![]() http://www.cuil.com/info/contact_us/...?to=crawl%20me http://www.cuil.com/info/contact_us/feedback/ Phil Last edited by Phil : June 17, 2010 at 07:16 AM. ![]() Thanks Jason.
Hits is the wrong thing to measure. If I put up 1000 different buttons and graphics on my site, 1 unique visit will show 1,000 hits on my server. What you want to measure is unique visitors. From humans - no bots. I recommend you signup for a free Google Analytics a/c and use their tracking code. You'll get a much clearer idea in a week as to how much traffic you're getting. |
