Thanks for sharing this! I think it's generally true... I do feel that, personally, when I publicize a goal, I am less likely to stick to it. I think it's for the reason that Derek Sivers said - you get some satisfaction already when you announce it, and thus (after announcing) you feel less "need" to actually accomplish it... However, I do think it is important to write down your goals, and track them. It's just that you don't have to share them with the world... But you do need to have them written down where you can easily see them, to remind yourself of them! Best wishes, Dien |

Or, in honor of the "real" Batman, Holy Cow Batman. If I had a brain it would be lonesome. I've got a couple of wall charts sitting here on the old computer...SOME DAY, ha! NOW I've got to add a new one, the View From the Rooftop, complete with Rungs which can be written on... Sheesh, someone needs to take my stuff and actually DO something with it...cause I don't seem to get round tuit. YIKES. Gordon Alexander |

![]() My goal for this fall is ... to keep my goal to myself.
Maybe I will write an e-book about it ... or maybe an e-mail autoresponder series. Thanks, Phil. That Ted.com is very cool. The "Hurdy-gurdy for beginners" video is ... well, you don't see that everyday! Robert J. |

![]() Thanks Phil.
Boy am I learning a lot these days. Yesterday I did a little phone conference and gave the "View From the Rooftop" concept to those listening in. I took questions and gave out my email addy and got some followup email when the call was over. THE reason I like the Harvey Brody concept so much is... UNLIKE many of the other marketing masters and even some gurus...by doing the EXTRA thinking in the beginning...by getting those rungs on the ladder "seen" and by having a step by step plan... gives him a bird's eye view of not only the completed project, the Mission Accomplished view...but also gives him a clear idea of potential sticking points, the types of people to avoid, etc. And since he has NEVER had a problem in 60 years dealing with the Alphabet boys, FTC, FDA, IRS, etc., And has NEVER filed for or even approached banruptcy...or has he been involved in any questionable or shady activity... HIS system, The View from the Rooftop...which DOES require more thinking, more forethought, more penciling out the results... is far superior to other Goal Setting and GOAL ACHIEVING methods. So, if you have a mentor or partner or confidant, or you are in a MasterMind Group...you should share your goals and get the support you need for when STUFF HAPPENS (and it always does)...and with the View from The Rooftop, "time" is planned into the steps up to the top...for when such outside forces crash into one's life. Go ahead and share your goals, but be picky and choosy about WHO you are sharing them with. Gordon Alexander PS. It also helps to be held accountable for uttering the goal aloud. Quote:
