![]() I just got the MP3 audio version of Napoleon Hill’s book “Outwitting the Devil: The Secret to Freedom and Success” which was written in 1938 (the year after Hill published Think and Grow Rich) but never released until now because Hill’s wife thought it would be to controversial and would offend most religious people. This book should have been combined into one book as part two of “Think and Grow Rich”.
In it Hill interviews the Devil and the Devil claims that his most effective tool to put a person in hell is to condition them to be a drifter who accepts the thoughts of others as gospel truth instead of being an independent thinker and one of the most effective ways of doing that is to brainwash children with the religious beliefs of their parents. No wonder why Hill’s wife insisted the book not be published until a certain number of years had passed after their deaths. Have you read it or listened to the audio version and if so what do you think of it? I think the Devil Hill interviewed was imaginary but much of what that imaginary devil had to say is true. ![]() Steve,
Thanks for the post. I didn't know Hill wrote the book. However, if this snippet is true: "In it Hill interviews the Devil and the Devil claims that his most effective tool to put a person in hell is to condition them to be a drifter who accepts the thoughts of others as gospel truth instead of being an independent thinker..." then I can see why he didn't want it published until well after his death. I guess guys like DaVinci, Newton, Einstein, Copernicus, et al, have paved the way to hell for all of us ![]() There is a better series of books, a trilogy actually, called Conversations With God by Donald Walsh that IMHO everyone should read. If you don't develop your independent thinker persona after reading this trilogy, you probably never had that ability in the first place. Thanks again for the post. Just thought I'd toss out my 2¢... Hills argument was for independent thinking and not blind faith just because someone else told you it was so. The above people were scientists and/or independent thinkers and among the 2% that Hills Devil calls his opposition. |

![]() I hear ya brother. If my experience is any guide - I own an insurance agency - independent thinkers are a lost breed. The more I read about the Occupy Wall Street people here in the U.S. the more convinced I become of my lost breed statement.
Anyway, just my 2¢... Have a great day and remember, the devil is in the details ![]() Tom |
