Some wonderful RV parks in San Diego and up the coast. Have talked to several people who stay here in the winter, then fire up their retirement homes...and many costing much more than a house...

and they head for adventure.

Have a home port, then hit the highways.

People I've met have been doing it for years and love it.

Also, there are still many mobile home communities, esp in fl, where you can pick up a bargain and be part of a community too, if that is your thing.

RV life is not for the homebody, but it is very affordable for many retirees.
