Hi Phil, I want to say thanks for posting this. When I read it back in June I looked into it and submitted my name to Google. They finally contacted me last week and sent me the training material after I signed their non disclosure agreement. Just took the written test today and passed with 97%. Still need to invest in certain equipment that Google requires be used to do the jobs and do a mock photo shoot according to their specifications before becoming fully certified. The money I can charge for an hour shoot is only a faction of what I earn per one hour invested into creating fantasy portraits... but being certified as a Google Trusted Photographer will lead to much bigger things! Ha - You never know... Google just sent me an invite to a forum they set up for their trusted photographers in Australia and New Zealand. Biggest problem is... they know how to produce the images but most of them don't have a clue on how to market and sell. The ones who have the guts to walk into a business with a virtual tour loaded onto their iPads do OK when they are lucky enough to catch the owner in but they say that most of the time they can't get to the owner. They need to read Don Alms Midas Report and some of the excellent sales strategies I found buried in a few WSO's I purchased at the Warriors forum. I just purchased a used campervan and am driving it down to Melbourne and taking it aboard "The Spirit of Tasmana" and taking 30 days to explore Tasmania and other parts of Australia. Probably won't get serious about working Googles Trusted Photographers program until February or March. Then if Google wants to hire me to spend a week with each of their photographers teaching them how to do cold calls... well lets just say that they will have to make me a really great offer because I know they have deep pockets and the money a photographer can make from working the program will look really good to most of them... however, it's really not that much at $300 per shoot. Looks like most of their photographers are not even averaging 2 shoots a week. The opportunity for them to do at least 2 - 3 shoots a day is there if they take the time to learn a few unique approaches and think beyond just offering the photographic service... I look at it as a foot in the door... a stepping stone to selling $10,000 per month service contracts. I found a company of 250 employees whom I can outsource any internet marketing services you can think of to. Problem with most photographers are... they are lone wolves... they don't like to outsource anything except their printing. Me... I don't waste my time doing my own photoshop edits... I outsource that... I hire photo assistants and camera operators to take the shots whenever I can so I can focus on selling! What these other Google Photographers need is to hire and train 2 or 3 bird dogs to sniff out the business for them. Then they can just stick to taking the pictures. But, since they don't know how to market and sell themselves... how are they going to hire and train others to do it for them? Well I can think of a great solution... if they are willing to pay handsomely for the service. Otherwise they can continue to struggle trying to figure things out on their own. Cheers, Steve |
