How to invest in Real Estate?

One of my friend want to invest in real estate in India is it right time to invest in guys if you have any ideas please let me know

Successful real estate investing differs from place to place...

Just to give a quick example. During the financial crisis, housing prices plunged in many places... However, in certain places it didn't go down too much. For example, houses on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, did go down, but only by around 10% or so (according to my research at the time)... In contrast, I think house prices in Phoenix, Arizona, crashed by around 60%. That's a big difference!

Each place has its own characteristics, related to the specific laws, as well as the culture (which affects which areas would be desirable, which in turn affects the housing prices).

Having said that, I have no idea about real estate investing in India... Perhaps someone else would know?
