As you know, Gordon, I live a few minutes south of the home of Papa Johns headquarters. They are too busy building "stadiums" for the university. And I just heard this week that a 25 million dollar house (compound) for Mr. "Papa John" is being built to entertain his friends and family.

Re: Wake up...

At 52, I am dealing with the situation. My "real" job is so crazy that sometimes I just want to quit, no matter what. I serve several masters. I please some. I distress some.

Things could change overnight. My company is in bed with another larger corporation by "agreement". I am stuck in the middle. Should they cease to agree, my income could be decreased or eliminated altogether.

I could go to work for the larger corp but it is run by some young bucks who think they know it all.

I have chosen to seek other income sources; i.e., multiple streams of income that I control (inasmuch as a human can be in control) while maintaining the "real" job as long as it lasts. Corporations tend to keep you as long as they can "use" you. Then you are thrown out with the trash. Loyalty and good service/work record mean very little any more. You may have been majorly instrumental in getting the company to where it is now. But your job is done. They paid you well, or not so well. The job is done. So, move on, big guy. You are in the way now.

Yes, we have raised a generation of spoiled brats.

Hopefully, some of the more resourceful Baby Boomers will survive to help clean up the mess.

Be blessed,

JDB

P.S. Enjoy your August.
