I have been dealing with "newbies" and down-market drongos for 20 years because I did not have the benefit of a proper education. You've achieved a Ph.D in Thoeretical Physics (my youngest son is currently on that route), but now you have chosen to mix with a majority of "no-hopers" who are mostly complete drongos. WHY?? The drongos will drive you mad - eventually. Please go back and GIVE back to the World that which you owe to it, and ALL of US !!

Hi Harry,

Everybody starts somewhere - even you and me. You and I were "newbies" once too. Insulting "newbies" is really insulting ourselves!

In addition to that, we have many wise and talented people posting here as well. I learn a lot here too! I'm actually often impressed by what I read here myself!

I do have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, and it means I am an expert in one thing. However, having a Ph.D. in physics doesn't guarantee success in business.... I've had to learn those skills too. For example, my copy writing skills nowadays are light years ahead of what they were a few years ago....

I've always had an interest in business and entrepreneurship. But it's a completely different ball-game from the world of physics research. In fact, it's been very eye-opening and enlightening to having been involved in both worlds!

I certainly don't plan to leave the physics world behind.... I contine to keep my links to the physics world, and I plan to be using my physics knowledge in business as well.

However, the real heart of my interest is "how the world works". That could mean at the heart of matter, in quantum physics (which is my physics specialty). Or it could mean at the heart of society....

In my opinion, entrepreneurs are some of the most important people in society. Entrepreneurs create the jobs. They are the ones who propagate innovation throughout society. (While many "technical" types may be the ones who create new innovations, it's the entrepreneurs who commercialize it and make it available for everyone to use.)

One of my goals has been to understand entrepreneurship. And the best way to TEST whether you understand it is to see if you can DO it! If you can't DO it successfully, you don't yet understand it!

I've learned a LOT here (and continue to learn).... And I hope many others are learning a lot here as well!

(And my learning is constantly paying off in increasing profits.... I hope it's the same for everyone else here too.)

In short, there is a lot of wisdom here, Harry, if you look closely....

I have a masters degree in chemistry and have worked in the field of science. However, I have not benefited as much from that as I have with entrepreneurship. Through my insurance agency and newspaper business, I have been able to employ others. I have also given scholarships to inspiring students. Now.... I call that helping the world.

Think about the world for a minute....

The richest guy in the world who has helped tens of thousands plus..... Bill Who?

The second richest guy..... Warren What?

The small business owner....

The homebased business owner....

These are the guys who make the world go round. These guys drive the economy. In my opinion, these guys are the smartest in the world.

And.... most of them didn't even go to college. Go figure.

Everyone at one time or another is a wannabe. It just takes us all a while to get to where we want to be.

In 1982 I thought I wanted to be a computer programmer, it took me 9 months and several thousand dollars to learn the skills needed to QUALIFY for my first job. But that job didn't materailze until 1985.

In 1995 I knew I wanted to be an internet guru (still seeking this status) and offer product and services over the 'Net because I hate face to face selling.

It has taken until 2002 - and a partnership with a programmer - to finally come up a CONCEPT of what will offer us the most return for the least amount of work.

And, believe it or not, the answer is a concept that MLMers keep harping on...

Do something once and sell it over and over and over...

Applying that one principle is the driving force behind SoftNuggets.Com.

We are developing internet solutions to real world businesses. We aren't just trying to sell them on buying a website - that can't be done successfully - we ARE selling them solutions that integrate seemlessly into their real world businesses.

And that we can do over and over and over.

But, if I hadn't taken the first step in 1982 I sure as hell wouldn't be in this position today.

Oh, one more thing. Formal education isn't for everyone. Look at the Robber Barons of the 19th century. None of them went to high school. Howard Hughes never went to college. And Bill Gates never finished his degree.

I have a formal education (Marketing and Sales) and my last corporate job position was Vice President of Marketing and Sales for a large consumer packaged goods company. Because I always wanted to be an entrepreneur, I quit a great job 18 months ago, to start my own product design/import /distribution firm that focuses on unique products/designs that I have manufactured, usually in China.
I have given my background, to say that I found this board two weeks ago and I have been amazed by the intelligence of the people on this forum and I have learned alot!
In my old corporate job, I always was looking for people who had "street" smarts versus book smarts. Also, the desire to achieve will always win out over a degree hanging on the wall.
By the way, if anyone has any questions for me based on my experiences, let me know.

You should be insulted. It is meant as an insult.

To an Australian, a drongo is slang for a very dumb person - moron, idiot, dim-wit, etc.

It's an insult on your intelligence.
