Default Simple & Easy: Check This Out!

Hello Everyone,

My gosh, it has been SO long since I have had a chance to visit!

Earlier today, I also FINALLY had a chance to visit my other favorite discussion board. I read a message that got me thinking about something I had done that was so simple, and yet it worked.

I posted my "tip" on the other discussion board, and I wanted to share it with you, too.

I hope this is not seen as spamming ... because that is definitely NOT what I am trying to do. I am simply sharing a simple idea that worked for me. And sometimes the simplest things produce wonderful results!

So here is what I posted ... read it, try it, and you'll be surprised at the results!

Are you like me? You occasionally come across some interesting tip, and you try it out to see if it really works? I do. :-)

Here's what I found several months ago, I tried it, and by golly, it did make a difference!

Ready? Research has found that if you place a mirror next to your computer screen, your productivity increases. At this point, researchers are not sure why. But what they are theorizing is this:

*if you work alone, seeing yourself in the mirror reduces the feeling of isolation.

*if you work in a cubicle, being able to see other people behind you or walking past your cubicle gives you a sense of community.

*by having a mirror, you can monitor your facial expressions while on the phone. Be sure you SMILE while talking on the phone ...YES; people can actually "hear" a smile in your voice! (Guess what that does to your customer service and sales?!)

*placing a mirror next to your monitor also gives the feeling of being next to a window. At my last residence, I actually placed a full size mirror, horizontally, beside my monitor. Then, whether I looked left or right, I could always see out my patio windows.

*did you know that employee productivity increases when a workplace has numerous windows? And did you also know that a lack of windows increases employee stress and frustration? And, lastly, did you know that when a company wants to reduce the strength of, or break a union, they will oftentimes relocate to a building without windows?

Now that you are your own boss, put the ball back in your own court by "creating" your own window ... your window of opportunity!

Diane, I loved your tip. I'm going to try it out! :)

Right now, I work with my back towards the window, so I'll try either placing a mirror so I can see out the window, or maybe I should try rearranging the desk (though doing that's a bit complicated, getting a mirror is easier)....

I thought it was a fantastic tip! I never really thought about it, but I think you're right.... I've generally worked better when I could see out the window, into the "greater world" outside.... It helps you to realize that you are part of something greater than yourself....

I don't know about seeing yourself, I guess I've never worked where I could see myself. I'd like to try that out too.... :) Seeing how suave and handsome I am could inspire me to.... errr.... did I just type that in? ;)

Thank you Diane.... I'm going to have to go out looking for a big mirror to place on the wall immediately!

I thought your tip was very useful.... Thank you for sharing it.... :)

Does anyone have any more useful office tips? :)

Cheers,

Dien

Thanks for the link.... I don't know anything about Feng Shui but I'm always open to learning something new....

I set up my mirrors (I got two) and it's pretty groovy peering out the window and also watching my handsome self.... :)

Unfortunately, one mirror isn't quite at the right angle and I'm currently staring at a reflection of my belly... err, I mean my "rippling abs".... but at least it's a start! :) (I ought to get Jim Everroad's book....)

Thank you both Diane and Sandy! :)
