![]() I'd like your feedback on this idea....
I'm suggesting that we keep any talk of war issues related to marketing and business. (For example, questions like "How could war affect your business?" "How will war affect the stock market?" etc.) Do you agree with this limit, or disagree? If you think this is a good idea, then any posts about war which are not directly related to marketing and business will be deleted. What do you think? Please let me know if you like this idea, or dislike it.... (I see this as "our" forum, so I really value your feedback on this.) Thanks, Dien Rice |

![]() Dien,
I don't mind keeping the politics/war talk toned down. I'm at sowpub for the gathering of entrepreneurial spirit that seems to be concentrated here. If you think war talk/fist fights will negatively affect that, then you have my full support in whatever kind of policy you want to implement. I snuck a cartoon in that I thought was hilarious just a minute ago. I suppose that will have to go :) -Erik |

![]() How about... posts which could be considered to be war related to have the word WAR as a preface in the subject. Such as...
WAR: An Open Letter To All Protestors That way, those who don't want to read those posts or participate in them will know not to open the post. Because certain posts could be fine line. Like the song one which shows lessons in marketing. Also, this war thing could have dramatic effects on the world. And I know if someone were to find out something I didn't know but would like to - even if it was not directly related to immediate business - I would like to be informed. (Like I am glad Boyd posted the link about the Korean issue. I otherwise would have not known those things.) Michael Ross |

![]() Doesn't bother me.....one way or the
other. I can choose to read other posts which are not related to war when I feel like it....Perhaps one solution is to start another board...I remember once before you were asking the same question when people started posting on "day trading" and some other financial stuff.... It's your board Dien...but I think what is confusing is in your introduction to the board you once stated people could post on life issues as well(and War is related)... But of course you can change the rules and redefine the board if you so choose. Thanks for asking for our feedback. |

![]() If you decide to allow War posts beyond the scope of business and marketing, they should put WAR in the headline.
If however, shouting matches become the rule of the day, you might want to reserve the option of revising the new policy. I've been posting on other forums for 4 years, and have mostly been able to keep my hard right leanings off the business forums. I'll still be here regardless of which way you and the group decide. |

![]() > Delete them. I've seen way too many excellent listservs degenerate when they veered off their chosen topics, particularly when they start addressing political issues. I'm afraid a lot of forums will follow suit. I don't go to political forums to get advice or insight about business or marketing, and I certainly wouldn't go to a forum like this to read the political opinions of others. I come here because I know I can find cogent, innovative business and marketing ideas. Anything else (other than the occassional joke or lighthearted posting) in my opinion dilutes the forum.

![]() Well said, Ken. I, too, have seen other forums deteriorate once extraneous posts, especially political posts, began to proliferate. I'd hate to see that happen here.
Perhaps the suggestion for a separate board would be a viable option, Dien? I don't care for the WAR tag on posts because the whole idea is to keep focused on marketing and business and avoid diverting focus to a negative. No matter how you put it, WAR would be distracting and potentially disruptive to the purpose in coming to this board. Sandi |

![]() Hi,
Given our propensity to boycott the products of the "other guys" (for examples, think how some people are boycotting French products), it's hard for me to figure out a good reason why any Democrat or liberal product sellers among us would want to speak freely about thier political views. So the result would be mainly or only conservative voices would be heard, making sowpub.com into sort of a Freerepublic Lite. Just my opinion as usual, - Boyd |

![]() Michael's suggestion would work.
However, having followed the thread "a piece," I don't think there is or would be a problem in just doing things the Beatles' way - Let It Be. . . If there's a more intelligent group of people meeting regularly on the planet, I haven't found them! (Mother) Marye |
