Default Easy Way to Get Biz Clients

Here's a way that has worked for me countless times in the past few years for getting biz consulting clients.

One note of warning, YOU HAVE TO GO OUT AND MEET PEOPLE.

However, this is not what you'd expect as cold calling. Additionally, if you are making even a measly $500 or $1000 for a couple hours work it's valuable.

Do you like to go to fishing stores, restaurants, pop-and-mom groceries, antique stores, whatever? Find places that you like to go to...where you will have a personal interest in being at the store.... This is important.

Then when you start talking with the owner, you have an interest you can fall-back on. If you have to buy an item or two and come back. You want to start a relationship with the owner... a positive one.

So, you are chit-chatting with the owner and you drop a nugget or two about some things that might help his business,i.e. "I was talking to CiCi's pizza the other day and mentioned a great way to get some more business which included placing ads in the Settle Inn and they sold an extra 12 pizzas a night."

You basically give an idea or two to the business owner and WALK AWAY.

Next time you come in, you give another idea and WALK AWAY.

By the third time you go in, the owner either has used the idea or thought about it.

You chit-chat again and ask the owner, "How's business?" The owner will tell you and almost always ask for an idea or your thought on it.

At THIS TIME, you offer to analyze the business and help them get more customers for very little cost.

I generally get $2500 or more to analyize the business. If they want more or want me to do the work for them, it costs more.

Using this approach I get about 70 - 75 per cent success rate.

It's slower than all the direct mail, teleseminar, etc., ways to get clients, but I have less stress and make a very good income.

The key, for me, is I like people.

Hope this helps someone.

Millard

Default Re: Easy Way to Get Biz Clients + Your Radio Talk Show

Congratulations Millard!!!

Tuned into your new ‘Making Money’ Show on Radio http://1340kadi.com today – and I’ve got to say – it was A1 Quality – very professional, well researched, with lots of interesting info on all the sorts of things we discuss here on SOW – new business ideas, cost effective marketing ideas, etc. “Well done Millard, I know your shows going to get a great following!.”

Cheers,
Steve Shulenski

PS: On your show today you mentioned how Paddi from Australia took his small service business from $40,000 per year to over $300,000 in just 10 months using a simple system. Last week I found a book by Paddi for 50/cents in a second hand store while hunting for photo props. I'll finish reading it today and add to this post later.

Great idea Millard..glad to see you're still on top of everything.

MIllard doesn't remember but he and I met many years ago either in New Mexico or Arizona ,I believe, at a mutual friends seminar..with the late Brain Flora and Docc Hilford.
I happen to know that Millard has many irons in the fire and I'm constantly amazed by his flexibility and energy level.

all the best,
Doc

Doc,

I learned a lot from Docc Hilford and Brian. They taught me to look at everything from a number of angles. I miss Brian a lot. He gave me the courage to move ahead and when i discovered Jay Abraham, there wa no stopping me.

What are you doing nowadays?

Hi Millard....I have to disagree with your..."Stop In on Potential Clients A Few Times...Give them a Freebie or 2 so they get an idea that YOU know what you're talking about....THEN...hit them with your "Consulting Fee".

IMHO....Doing this is "IFFY" and "Takes a Lot of TIME".

When my wife was having terrible Back Pains a while back...I did a LOT of research on what to do about it. I found some answers....did some testing...more research...more testing and finally found some "answers".

After going thru this I wondered whether any Chiropractors would be interested in my "discoveries"...so...I put my stuff into a Report and sold it via my "Recorded Message" system....
1) getting my target market to CALL a Recorded Message
2) getting them to leave their Name & Addy
3) sent them the "Free Info" they requested...along with a Sales Letter for my Report.

Sold a bunch o reports and probably could've stayed with "Chiropractors" as a GOOD Target Market (ala Dan Kennedy) but my interest just wasn't there.

So....nowadays, to get Consulting Clients, I'd prefer to run a Free INTRO Seminar... either a "Free Lunch" or early evening meeting where I would provide a few freebies and announce my upcoming "FEE" Seminar.

This is how the "Internet Website Builder" outfits operate. They are STILL coming thru my area....offering "Free Tickets" to their Intro Seminar...and using the Intro Seminar as a "Sales Tool" to get "Paying Customers".

One of these I attended offered 3 "Intro Seminars" a day...9am, 2pm and 7pm, for 2 days (Tues and Weds)....to get 30 "Paying Customers" into their all day Sat Seminar. This last one was for $1800 per seat. $54,000 for ONE DAY!

Needless to say....THESE GUYS were VERY Professional....and...they probably did offer good stuff for $1800 a seat.

Don,

I actually think we agree when it comes to doing the seminar process. As we have discussed, the seminar deal is a great way to get people in the door and upsell them.

I was talking about single clients, here. But no matter. We have both discussed how we need to get residual income streams and long-term clients, etc., without having to "Hunt for Food" everyday.

I had forgotten about the "Free Lunch" angle and think it is valuable.

There is a local hotel here that would be happy to let me have a room for some exposure on my radio show. I could also get a good deal from a local caterer for sandwiches, etc.

Once I get them in the room, I can spend a good hour just discussing the power of follow up so that they would get tremedous value. Then I could show them how they could get a great follow up system "FREE" when they sign up for the large package seminar.

Let's talk about it. Wadda say?

Millard

You can listen on www.1340kadi.com Weds. 4-5 PM

However, because of the ice storm in the area, I think the transmitter is out for the Jan. 17 show. Just go to the website and hit the link button, if we're on, we're on, otherwise check for the next show.

Thanks,
Millard
