Default Dylan #4 The times they are a changing...with the climate...both real and virtual.

I have loved ones in FL...it is always disturbing to see BAD weather take lives, fortunately for my family, the recent FL storms did them no harm...my prayers and good wishes go out to those that didn't fare so well.

A FEW of you have my Katrina tape...and on that I talk about the changing weather conditions and the OPPORTUNITIES it may afford to some.

Here in Akron, OH we are entering into the coldest weather we've had in years...this afternoon the REAL cold air comes in to take our 18 degrees down to below zero...with WIND chill factors of 10-20 BELOW...YIKES.

A world wide consortium of scientists have just put us all on notice...there IS Global warming. Which translates into BAD weather the world over.

Consider this week's news...there are thousands of miles of LEVEES IN the US on the brink of disaster...flooding will become a routine event across America in the next few years...and insurance rates will soar...along with a NEW movement...toward higher/safer ground (affordable) ...(read: write a little report, better yet, a couple of HOTSHEETS on this, and you could produce a bread and butter income)...

As I spoke about on the Katrina tape; fires, floods, tornados, hurricanes, Tsunamis, volcano eruptions (one coming soon)...and the impending EARTHQUAKE that destroys the West Coast...are NOT figments of some dooms day profiteer (Howard Ruff and Gary North pop into mind)...

they are ongoing FACTS of life. Part of the Parade of Life.

SO WHAT?

As one of the great lines in moviedom says, "Time to get busy living or get busying dying." Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption.

Another of my favs: be part of the problem...or be part of the solution.

OK. OK. Gordon...what about the opportunities you wrote about in the last Dylan post?

Honestly....I'm hesitant to even talk about them. Why?

Well let me tell you a quick little story.

A guy named Ed came to Cuyahoga Falls to pick my brain. He was, supposedly, a big "FAN" of my work...and now I have greater sympathy for the Lindsey Lohan's of the world...may WE never have to face the scrutiny of the papaNazi's who are just "doing their jobs"...

Anyhow, Ed was sincere, after all he spent his time and money to come visit with me...he arrived downtown and I met him at the stage, hey, even if it is only an audience of one, I was ready to perform.

We have an Ice Rink in the winter, and in the summer we have Friday nite parties, and weekend events on the Mall, and the little amphitheater is home to some pretty good home grown talents.

I made Ed buy me lunch at our local coffee shop...and got to know him a tad bit better...trying to find out HOW or even IF I could be of service...

I said, a quick story. CUT TO CHASE:

Ed left with some good ideas...said he would get back to me...and I haven't heard from him since. AH...perhaps you were thinking he stole stuff...a FEAR I've never had...never will...because like YOU, I'm impossible to copy....anyhow...

I feel that day was one of those that get put into the BLACK HOLE of time section of my life...just think, I could have had a nice lunch, and perhaps a DeeLightful afternoon with one of my friends...and nibbled on cheese doodles as well as ear lobes.

ALAS.

It is about TIME. That hasn't changed for me in two decades. Almost ALL of my peers, mentors, contemporaries...have had more steak and lobster and shrimp dinners than I have (and they have the gout to prove it)...more "fine" wine...hey, I don't drink but there was a time when Pagan Pink Ripple was the only friend I could count on...

And they have bigger cars, homes, clothes...and yet no one...NOT any of them have had MORE TIME to pursue their "true loves" or other activities. I perhaps should have paid a little more attention to getting a better firewall built around my finances...but that retrospective look back doesn't help NOW. Besides, I have my MEMORIES of the TIME spent doing what I wanted, with whom I wanted, when I wanted...and that seems to be what so many people are LOOKING for...

and they wrongly think that MONEY is the answer...well, do a little research on lottery winners and you'll see that even they don't do very well with all that free time and tons of money on their hands...

Which leads me to this:

One way to measure the quality of your life is to have control of your TIME first, and use a portion of it to make your finances as you want them.

IF anyone is REALLY interested, (ED, don't bother, OK?) is sincere about getting started and pursuing a real Internet Opportunity...

then you need to invest 7 dollars today. Do that and then we'll talk.

After reading this, I truly believe this could be the STARTING point or the FINISH line for so many people. Why?

Because INFORMATION in the information age is not only NOT going away...practically ALL of us will consume a ton of it in the next couple of years...and it could be information that allows us to make a difference in our futures and in the future of the world as we know it today.

Gordon Jay Alexander

PS. IF you do spring for the 7 bux, send me an email and I'll give you some IDEAS on the kinds of information that you could probably create and cash in on TODAY. Fair enough?

Hi GJA,

I just bought that report yesterday from some one else... more than the report, I bought it for the free script.

Combine the script with Hotsheets and you have a super way of building mailing lists.

Good find.

Gordon, I think you're right - there's an "info-opportunity" in the changing weather...

Where I live - in Melbourne, Australia - the weather does seem to be changing. Melbourne traditionally has been a bit of a "wet weather" city - I remember how we used to have weeks and weeks of drizzle, one day after another...

Now, we get hardly any rain. In fact, we're in the middle of the worst drought we've ever experienced... Some say Australia is having its worst drought in 1000 years...

Melbourne's change from drizzle to dry weather is both good and bad. The "good" part is the weather is much nicer, actually, for spending time outdoors and getting some sunshine! On the other hand, we have to watch our water use (we have water restrictions), so the city doesn't drain the existing water reserves dry. It's bad news for gardeners, and I've heard that many plant nurseries are going out of business...

However, it's not that everything is getting universally dry. Some places in Australia are actually getting wetter, with more rain! It's just that, those are areas where there aren't as many people (yet)...

I agree with you, this climate change could represent an opportunity... There will be a "flow on" effect. People will move as a result of rain and other weather patterns. Property prices could be affected in the decades to come as a result.

What if you had a report, telling how the weather would change, and where? I'm sure a lot of this info is "buried" in various scientific and government reports. If you could "dig up" that info, and write it in a way that the everyday man and woman could understand, would people want it? I think knowing how the weather patterns will change in the next few decades could be "money in the bank" to a lot of people!

I got the report - thanks for pointing it out!

He has a very interesting (and even "ingenious") approach to "affiliate marketing"! And spending $7 is pretty "painless"...

Hmmm...that bit about the levees sure hits home. Now, if we had one, we wouldn't have to worry about the earthquake that's supposed to devastate the west coast of the USA, maybe? I live 4 blocks from the ocean at a whole 13 feet above sea level.

Dien, you talk about dry/wet...it's been about the same here EXCEPT for the severity of the winds and the rain-all-at-once phenomenon that floods everything in sight and knocks out transportation and power. Been a much colder winter here than usual so far. Summer was hotter than usual.

I think, over all, what we'll see is an intensifying of the usual scenarios most places.

The effect on businesses and property values could be really dramatic due to rising costs of power, strain on the power grids, abandoned properties and tax base losses that will wipe out many small businesses and communities.

Could be a boon for online businesses, however, if a lot of the community services dry up for one reason or another. Guess we should stay on top of developing events and be prepared.

Default If I ruled the world LOL

I'd legislate that every new home should have solar panels in the roof! Even if we reduce the requirement for fossil fuels by only a few percent, it's still a contribution to the reduction in greenhouse gases.

.... now, where's the campaign fund? Where did I leave the ballot boxes ??

Hi, Bill - I'm not completely convinced either. However, my reasons for thinking about solar/alternative energy supplies are more to do with the ever-spiralling cost of oil because the demand for fuel from the developing world is only going to grow. Being totally reliant on a few oil-producing countries makes us very vulnerable to political whim - and I see solar/alternative energy as a means to insulate ourselves (slightly) from future squabbles between oil producers and those who might consume it.

Like farming, changes in production of solar panels cannot be switched on overnight; there will be a lead time of several years before any meaningful contribution could be made to the nation's energy consumption.

As for global warming, my understanding is that the earth heats and cools on a cycle of thousands of years, completely independently from man's contribution.

Default Re: Market via Google PPC or....?

Hey Gordon -

I think you're REALLY onto something here ... in fact, it seems like a non-gamblers version of trending with the stock market (the people who play stocks work the market through news-driven criteria etc.) ...

...but my question is - it used to be Google that you could do Adwords through and market short reports through with a single landing sales page - but they won't allow you to do that anymore (without charging an insane PPC cost - and that will negate the $7 report one is trying to market - be it a "find higher ground" report or "don't get caught when the levee breaks" report) ...

..so aside from affiliate programs - how would you recommend marketing these? Or do you think Yahoo adwords (or whatever they call them) would be better?

Again, I think this is a brilliant idea ...make simple reports based upon media driven stories... with an extremely low cost (micro-payment) that people will think "what the heck - might be worth it"... I'm just hung-up on where to get the eyeballs without breaking the bank and without having to take a year to build an affiliate network of people selling the reports.

Thanks to all that chime in, in advance...

KK

Default Global What??

I'm not all that sure about global warming. But then, I'm not that sure about anything anymore.

One interesting thing I did see on the old boob-tube this past weekend said that everytime someone switched to the flourescent light instead of their good old standard light bulb, it was equal to pulling 8,000 cars off the road.
