The art of Blogging!

Hello fellow marketers,

My name is Krystal and i am starting to learn how to blog, it seems like it is a little complicated but i am slowly learning how.

I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some really good advice on how to make a blog get a really good rating so it is seen by many online visitors and attracts sales.

It is not complicated at all. The learning curve is very short. The best advice I can give is...

You blog better, when you read more blogs. Just as reading improves writing.

Tony Pierce wrote this years ago, but it is excellent advice.

Being authentic and edgy goes a long way.

I also love controversy, because it can be harnessed like a horse. Just ask: Madonna, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Michael Moore, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Michael Jackson...

Use video.

Use audio (podcast via Libsyn.com).

Be you.

Use your blog as a newspaper. Publish news. Publish opinion. Stuff revenue streams where you can.

1. Give a really good catchy name to your blog.
2. Write good short posts.
3. Frequency matters. Make atleast 3-4 posts a week.
4. Link to other bloggers.
5. Ask other bloggers with complementary blogs to link to you.
6. Ask other bloggers to write a guest post for your blog. Or interview them for your blog.
7. Organize a blog tour.
8. As Jason said - be controversial.
9. Collect peoples email addresses and email them from time to time - asking them to comment on one of the blog posts.

(I'm working on a new web application that will help bloggers get more traffic. It may sound like hype but the bloggers won't have to do a thing once the web app is set up.
