I don't think I did anything special... I think it might be automatic in Firefox to put it there... By the way, for those who may not know, a "Favicon" is that little icon that appears next to web sites when you add them to your Favorites / Bookmarks... You'll see the Sowpub one is a little "mini" version of the farmer sowing seeds that you'll see at the top of the forum... Here's how I created the one for Sowpub. I just used one of the online websites you can use to create one for free... I don't remember now which exact website I used, but here's one you could use... http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/ On that page, you can upload a picture (from your computer) that you'd like to use as a "favicon". (It doesn't have to be the right size - that website will resize it for you to the right size.) Once your icon is created, download it. Now, you just upload the picture, calling it "favicon.ico", to the main directory of your website. From there, browsers will automatically look for it. If they find it, they'll show it! (By the way, you don't need to modify your web pages at all. Most browsers I think will look for it automatically. I don't think I modified any of the web pages here... All I did was upload the file.) Anyway, that's how I did it, as far as I remember... One of my brothers created one for his website, then asked me why I didn't have one! Here's one of my brothers' websites that also has a "Favicon"... MyLinkVault (It's also ranked as the 449th most popular "Web 2.0" website according to Seth Godin's list!) So if you have a website, that's how you do it! ![]() Cheers, Dien Last edited by Dien Rice : June 16, 2007 at 04:59 AM. Reason: Additional info |

![]() Hey Dien,
I use Opera, and the favicon it shows next to my bookmark for SOWPUB is the YouTube logo. Strange . . . wonder how that happened? ---- Hugh |

![]() Dien,
Thanks. Ah. Here's a little something... When you insert the favicon.ico code - <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/vnd.microsoft.icon"> - into the HEAD section of the page, it will show up in the location bar in Firefox when Offline, but not in the Tab. Also, it won't show up on Other pages - just the page with the code, even if they are in the same Folder. BUT, without the code, with just the favicon.ico loaded to Online, then when going online it shows up in the location bar and in the Firefox tab. So it seems the Firefox browser only looks for it and displays it when Online. BTW, with the Code I mentioned above, if you insert it into a page and Change the favicon.ico part with anything like graphicname.gif then the new graphic will display in the location bar - at least it does when working offline.
