Default $10,000, a driver's license, NO contacts, and just 2 1/2 days -- what would you do?

I just saw a remarkable show on Australian TV.... It was called The Money Game. I think it was a once-off special....

They got 3 millionaire entrepreneurs.

* Cameron Fisher, age 38, Real Estate Agency Director at www.tbm.com.au

* Pamela Noon, age 53, Cosmetic Surgery Broker and owner of "Clinical Beauty" Clinics.

* Ron Bakir, age 23, high school dropout, made his money in mobile phone sales, owner of "Crazy Ron's" mobile phone (cell phone) stores in Australia.

And they gave the three of them this challenge.

They each received $10,000. They were also allowed to keep their driver's license. And the clothes they were wearing. NOTHING ELSE.

Their mission? It was to turn it into as much money as they could in 2 1/2 days. The one with the most money by the deadline won.

They were NOT allowed to use their contacts, friends, family, or former clients.

They were NOT allowed to sleep at home.

In this situation, what would you do?

The show was INCREDIBLY instructive! It was amazing what they did....

I'll tell you what they did in a day or two....

But first, what do you think you would do?

P.S. In addition, out of curiosity, has anyone else seen any similar shows elsewhere around the world?

Default Crazy Ron

Dien,

I didn't see the show you're talking about, but I saw Crazy Ron the phone guy on tick, tick, tick 60 Minutes.

He's a workaholic and has been doing 14 hour days since jumping into the mobile market.

He lives on the Gold Coast and has never been to the beach until they did the piece on him

As for me if I had $10 grand, I'd drink a lot of beer and stay out all night......actually I don't think there's much you could achieve in 2 1/2 days other than having a good time.

Most businesses take longer than that to setup and find success.

Were they allowed to organise loans with the money? I presume the winner was the one with the most cash, not assets?

If it was just cash, I'd be inclined to head to the Casino....Black jack and I are old friends.

Anyway, I just thought I'd mention the crazy Ron part...looking forward to reading the results...are you really going to make us wait a few days for them?....I'll have to keep coming back here.....you shameless promoter;0)

Default Re: Crazy Ron

I saw the show, it was excellent. I think they were assessed on cash. I won't reveal what they did, but just so you can get an idea of how they each fared, the three constestants made $65000, $31000, and $13000. Not bad for 2 1/2 days work.

Default The $200 Mission

Was that show on free-to-air TV or cable? Regardless, I missed it. Did you tape it? If so, how can I get a copy?

Tonight on the Lifestyle channel at 8 pm NSW time or 7 pm Qld time, there's a show called "Bargain Hunt."

The idea is each person gets $200 and an Antique expert and has to buy the most valuable antique they can find.

I'm not sure if they then have to sell it and get cash or just own.

Either way, it sounds like it'll be an interesting show on buying and selling chattel - really old chattel.

Default No loans or nothin!

G'day Richard,

I can believe it.... He seemed like a pretty hyperactive guy on the show!

He was a very good salesperson-type.... Always full of excitement no matter what he was up to. :)

It was interesting, because the three of them weren't all the same "type" of personality.... Ron was the super-salesman. The other two weren't, so it was cool to see what they did too.... :)

Anyway, I'll write it up later tonight or perhaps tomorrow (Aussie time) what each of them did.... :)

That's what I would have thought! But I would have thought wrong....

The thing these guys did was they knew how to use other services. I suffer from the desire to try to do everything myself.... These guys outsourced, and gosh, I discovered it's a darn good way to do things!

Your Yellow Pages is your friend. :)

> Most businesses take longer than that to

Yeah, that's what amazed me.... Though they could use their *talents*, but that's about it....

I'd say they all did quite well! The one which did *worst* still ended up with a bit over $13,000 -- that's still $3,000 more than this person started out with, in just 2 1/2 days.

Here are the exact figures they each ended up with (in no particular order).... As Thomas indicated, they were.....

$13,068, $31,315, and last (but not least)..... $65,466.

How did they do it? That's coming later.... :)

None of them took out any loans....

Yes, the winner had the most CASH....

Heheh..... :) One of them was a gambler, this person did some betting on the horses. :) But only made a little bit of money doing that....

I'll post the details either tonight or tomorrow (Aussie time).... :)

Yeah I taped it.... That's how I can remember the details so well.... ;)

A videotape of the show is probably also available from Channel 7 (Australia)....

Thanks also for the note about the Lifestyle Channel show.... Good for the antique buyers and sellers!

I had my doubts about all this "reality TV" but now I think it's going in some interesting directions! :)
