Default Peter Sun Reckons He's A Wealth Guru - See His New Ad

Peter Sun - the man who could not make a success at business but who became wealthy by...

1: Selling info on how to make a business wealthy (something he couldn't do)
2: Selling Rights for $18k to $25k to others to sell his "how to make your business wealthy" material.

Interestingly, his ad criticizes those who sell stuff by saying you can make money by mailing 1,000 letters, and those who promote make money online stuff. I say interesting because he's known for sending out letters that began...

Imagine this. On Monday you pop by the post office and mail 1,000 letters. And that's all the work you need to do to...

And he also sold stuff on how to make money online.

And had dealings with those who promise to turn $5 into $100 by gambling.

I recall he did try to get into the Success Guru arena. Al la Tony Robbins. But that mustn't have worked well for him. Because now, it seems, he is Implying at being a Real Estate Guru by the repeated used of Real Estate in his ad. Even borrowing from Kyosaki and calling it "My step-by-step cash quadrant formula".

Anyway. To see his one page newspaper ad - it ran in local suburban newspapers where such an ad can be had for a pittance compared to a real newspaper (like he accuses the other gurus of... if he is doing so well why not run the ad in the Major Daily) - follow this link http://www.michaelrossonline.com/PeterSunAd.pdf

And if you think, like he says, he will Never sell you another product, then I've got a bridge to sell you. It's a nice pretty moss green color. Ideal handyman fixer upper.

Margaret,

Use your PDF reader Zoom feature(s) at about +/- 300 or so...

And adjust your Brightness levels on your computer monitor...

Many also don't know that they can adjust their Text size by going to View in their web browsers for different needs...

Using the PDF Select Tool in some cases will allow you to make changes, copy and paste into word etc. etc...

Instant Laser eye surgery for Free...

Default Hey Mike....

I don't get the "reason" for your attack on Peter. Peter is in OZ and most of the audience on this Forum are in the States.

Are you trying to keep "Americans" from buying any of Peter's sruff? Are you envious of his "success" in selling "Info"?

There's no doubt Peter has made lots of money selling "Info" products since 1995. Instead of attacking...why don't you do some "deeper research" and find out "How" Peter has sold a "Lotta Stuff" in the last 13 years.

The Ad you reference, for example. It's a gem of copyrighting...similar to the ads Gary Halbert used to run for his seminars. And...maybe he's running the ad in a "cheaper" newspaper as a "test" to see how it pulls before buying ads in the more expensive paper.

I first met Peter at a Bill Myers seminar in Hot Springs ARK. back in 1995. He flew in from OZ and spent a week digesting Bill's stuff. I spent some time with Peter and got to know that he's a "regular guy" (like you and me)... looking for "things to sell, so we didn't have to punch time cards working for someone else!"

He bought the "Aussie Rights" to all of Bill's stuff....re-packaged them, added some stuff from a few others and proceeded to sell "Business Building" packages for thousands, to biz owners.

To do this he also spent a lot of time learning, "HOW To Sell Info Products by Mail and Newspaper Ads!" When I saw Peter the next year (1996) at Myer's seminar he showed me the "Library" he had put together of how successful people were selling their info stuff. At that stage in his life, he was a "sponge" sopping up every marketing and promotional tidbit he could find.

We stayed in touch for a few years and I bought his "Small Business Marketing and Promotion" package...which he compiled from a number of sources. I took his package and added some stuff to it and proceeded to do seminars for small biz owners in my area....from which MANY benefited.

IMO Peter has "Paid His Dues"! He has studied and learned and applied what he learned to make a substantial amount of money. He has NOT "ripped anyone off" (that I know of) Sure...he charged many times more than what the stuff was being sold for by others. But...his customers were eager and willing to "pay his price".

I remember a few months after he bought Myer's stuff...he sent me the promo materials he was planning on using to sell to local biz owners. I almost choked when I saw the price....$4,900. Then....he took the same promo materials and added a few items and began selling that package for $9,900.

Hey...if he can get it...go for it!

So....I don't know the reason why you posted this, knocking a guy who has been successful "selling Info Products"....maybe it's "jealousy"....or "envy" of a "fellow Aussie" making big bux....whatever.

I think the audience here would be better served if they could see some of the "Successful Promo Materials and Marketing Tactics" Peter has used to sell his stuff. Heck...just reading the Ad you referenced....if someone were to sit down and study the way the words are put together...the way the Ad is structured...the way he gets Attention...then Builds Interest....then Build Trust...then "Closes"....his Ad is VERY WELL DONE (imo) and people could learn from it.

Anyway...got to go.

Default Thanks Peter Sun and Michael

Thanks Michael.

But not for what you think

Peter Sun is old school from the days of Mike Enlow and probably helped start the Aussie copywriting invasion here in US as now we have a slew of Aussie guru's running around. Nothing wrong with that.

No, thanks comes from one Guru expressing a problem with another one while
that other is still ALIVE!

It's refreshing and rare.
But that could mean a good thing or bad thing.

You know what i mean poor Gary Halbert passes away then some alleged creepy things come out about his business yet not ONE guru cautioned this to NOOBS while Gary was alive. Why not?

Well we all would think there is lots of kissy butt behind the scenes.
If you have a LIST everything's BLISS!

I don't have direct access to any of these people so I'm only speculating but
Michael I sure hope you aren't anyway Thanks for putting on your melons today.

I advise you to get your FACTS straight.

There were a LOT of people expressing PROBLEMS about Halbert, especially with his "insider stock" recommendations.

MANY people were cautioned about doing business with Halbert...and the other "usual suspects" in that genre.

What part does due diligence play Garth? NOOB or not, there is common sense and research.

There has been NO attack made on Halbert that I am aware of.

There have been facts that have come to light since his death, one being he owed people a lot of money and his estate could not pay it back. That isn't an attack, that is the fact.

As for attacking Halbert goes, he was quite able to fend for himself, having had two ways of dealing with it...if he felt he could counter attack and put someone in his newsletter and cast dispersions their way, he did so...and his newsletters are full of very ONE SIDED stories about how the "other guy" screwed things up and Gary will never deal with them again.
OR, he said nothing, preferring that his "associates", or his buddies would come to his defense and knowing his was the louder voice out there.

So for the RECORD Garth, NO one that I know of is attacking the late Gary Halbert. There are some facts that have been shared since light was shed on certain subjects.

But, here's a WARNING to all noobs reading this, if you find a guru and he's been in jail or has an FTC (or SEC) order out there regarding his businesses practices...

you should make an informed decision (by doing your homework and due diligence) whether you want to do business with him or not.

One of Halbert's friends, one he referred people to and who spent large sums of money with is Bill Heid. He's doing quite well following in Halbert's footsteps. Do a search, you'll find all you need to know as to whether you want to get involved with this guy.

Gordon Alexander

PS. As to the "reason why not one GURU cautioned noobs"...the reason is simple... there was a popular book in 60s None Dare Call it Treason...from the saying, "treason doth not prosper, for if it prospers, none dare call it treason"...my best guess as to why none of the "gurus" issued any cautions, could it be they made a buck or two from him?

Default Since When Are Facts An Attack?

Don,

Thanks for jumping in.

You don't need to Get any Reason for me doing anything. Need to know... and you certainly do Not need to know my reasons for doing anything.

But let me ask you this...

All I said of Peter is verifiable fact. Since when does sharing Common-Knowledge Facts constitute an Attack?

Every month in the Aust BizOp mag he tells his Failed Business Story. He has a large list and would send out his "Imagine This..." letter to them - as well as have it in his Catalog. Nothing Secret I am revealing here. It's all already out there. So repeating already out there Facts ain't an attack.

Sure. You are not likely to go to this event. And I suspect Sun is merely aiming to video tape the event and then Sell It as a Product - nothing wrong with that. It's a Standard Product Development Method.

Some people don't know who Sun is, so I tell them. Those who do know might have wondered what he was doing. I know the ad caught me by surprise.

Either way. The ad is interesting. Read it as an example of Salesmanship In Print.

Back in 1995, the only thing Peter was selling for Thousands was a copy of The Direct Mail Bookcamp - about $2,000 from memory. He was also selling his "How To Profit In A Recession" book, Bill's $30k A Month From Direct Mail videos, Bill's Secret Weapons of Direct Mail video, Bill's Decessionary Economy Video, Bill's Direct Mail Book and his Video Marketing Letter. And also selling Rights to those. (I've probably still got one his old catalogs from back then laying around with those products in it. And there wasn't any Business Building Packages in it for Thousands.)

As for "successfully selling info products"... sure I agree. He has made money selling. I even mentioned it in my first post. But - BUT - it's info he wrote advising something he couldn't do himself - how to have a successful retail/service business. See... he Failed in business then wrote on having a successful business and sold that info. It becomes circular... the proof of what I say is my business, which makes money telling you how to have a successful business. Circular. I make money in Direct Mail buy selling info on how to make money in Direct Mail. Circular.

I have nothing against selling information - or being an Information Broker. What I am against is circularism. The wealthy internet guru whose internet wealth comes from selling info on getting wealthy online. Circular. Those who preach Prosperity Thinking while making all their money from selling books on Prosperity Thinking. Circular.

I have nothing against Info Brokering. Or being like a Journalist or Reporter writing on something. It's being circular I am against.

Default You gotta Admit the Guy is Flexible & Persistent & Enthusiastic

Dear Michael,

Thanks for the ad.

I've known Peter Sun for years. (Although we haven spoken in a while)

He's gotten rich by borrowing ideas from entrepreneurs in other countries.

Repackaging them.

Re-selling them in Australia.

You might admire the way he Changes hats depending on market trends. (He sells prospects what they're already buying from others.)

or

Maybe You like the NERVE he shows in Bumping prices by 5K to 10K - After a Vacation. (We were talking by phone. He told me how he got to thinking. "I wonder what would happen if I boosted the price a Lot higher?")

NOTHING Happened. Sales continued the same - at the higher price.

or

Mention Suicide Up top in an Ad. It takes GUTS to admit you failed at your attempt to commit suicide. In a full page newspaper headline.

SO...

You are right, Michael.

Peter can change his sales pitch on a dime.

Which is fortunate for his family and employees. Because clients are fickle.
Their tastes change fast.

Thanks,
Glenn Osborn

P.S. - I'm looking for a simple Kangaroo Recipe for a book I'm writing. Can you help me?

Do you have a favorite? I hear many restaurants and shops now sell roo meat.

Default Re: Peter Sun Reckons He's A Wealth Guru - See His New Ad

I am living proof of the dynamic duo of Halbert and Heid. Around x-mas time 2006. Gary Halbert was actually going to work with me. I responded to his request for people with money. He had tested direct mail projects that needed to be rolled out. I sent the 15k (without an written agreement). To make a long story short once he got the money he changed his tune and wanted me to come up with my own idea for a product.

Then he convinced me his buddy had a can't miss product. Gary's girlfriend by the way was in the ad. More dough. More losses.

Enough of the details. I was too trusting. False beliefs in gurus who I thought could do no wrong.

However, I'm responsible. I should have seen through it. Should have listened to my gut. Everything sounded too easy.

What did I learn?

1) Don't believe without checking things out. Most people want money. I'm sorry but from my experience in this direct marketing business I see a lot of deceit, lies and unethical practices.

And I've seen enough of the phrase "insider secrets." Everyone has insider secrets.

2) I'm doing a direct project on my own. I've studied, read and studied some more. There are no guarantees. You've just got to take action. Either you succeed or fail. If you fail you readjust, amend, tinker and then try it again.

Ben Suarez is my model. If you read his book you'll see that he tried all kinds of things in his basement before he hit pay dirt.

If you are looking for guarantees look again. There is no magic pill. At least I haven't found one - and now I've stopped looking.

3) Don't go goo goo ga ga over the "experts." Trust in your instincts. Tread carefully. Don't believe empty promises.

I read Gary's newsletters and learned from them. Obviously he has a lot of followers and people became successful putting his ideas into action. All I'm saying is my adulation of him and the man he recommended got me buried. There are who they are. I should have known better.

In the end going through the school of hard knocks - although painful -has taught me alot

Default Re: Peter Sun Reckons He's A Wealth Guru - See His New Ad

Kilarney's success tips are wise to follow.

You must try to use your own common sense mixed in
with advice from people you trust that's all you got.

Here's a common sense story that was only available
to us after Gary passed away.

I'm in no way glad that he passed away but it does
bring up a clue about him.

The clue is an obituary.

I've yet to see one in any major direct mail trade journal.

I found that surprising with what we know about his marketing
exploits.

I also know that about the same time Bob Stone another
direct mail guru passed away. I found his obit in many direct mail mags.

This is a clue to something not sure what.

Could mean his family didn't want one put out but it could
also mean he wasn't as popular and well respected as we thought.

This leads to another question related to Kilarney.

Let's assume a buddy of mine passed away and i knew his estate
was having trouble covering his obligations I would step to help
make things right by say finishing a copywriting project that
didn't get done and now the family's estate is in trouble because it.

Yet to hear that happening. Questions more questions that's
all they are because I have no direct access.

But does this mean he didn't have has many friends as we thought? Maybe his friends are stepping in and we don't know about it?

Kilarney did any of Gary's friends offer to finish the project for you?
Maybe Gary does have friends and Kilarney's story is false?

Kilarney's claims also show why waiting on the FTC is not good enough.
They may take months even years to swoop in after the deed is already done.

Anyway this might be example of how common sense on
big purchases might help you find what you are looking for.

Finally these things can be a tough call.

Everyone knows Gary had some legal issues in the past but we were all drawn to him because he did give some sound advice and he had so much experience in this field.

A few years back I had a women turn over to me the full motherload of the Wade Cook stock and wealth accumulation stuff for one cent.

She must have paid at least $10,000 or more for it she was a premium member. Said she made money with it but just moving on. This was about time he was being investigated but not shut down.

There's are some good advice just can't go ga ga over it like Kilarney said.
But i understand the dilemma because every marketing person in the world sales the sizzle.
