Default "There is a 97.5% chance that Al Gore was short-changed at least 2,008 votes...."

That's the conclusion of statistical analysis done by Craig Fox of Duke University, by comparing plots of how votes in Palm Beach County compared to the other counties in Florida....

I'm not really a fan of either Gore or Bush (I see pluses and minuses to each), but I thought this was interesting....

You can read the article (from New Scientist magazine) below -- and to see the revealing graph that he was talking about....

Those guys in Palm Beach County perhaps should have consulted with some mail order marketers! They know how to design a good coupon which works....

A ballot paper is probably not too different.... :)

Default 97.6% chance of voter fraud

Dien, I wonder how he would explain this.

Florida dept. of state elections says August 2000
Palmbeach county

# registered replublicans=227,793
# registered democrats=287,299

A.P. says recount totals in Palmbeach vote

Bush=152,954
Gore=269,696

Looks to me like the Democrats made out like bandits and are still complaining.

I think maybe this should go to the courts after all. Somewhere in Palmbeach county there are some election officials using the so called ballot confusion as a smokescreen.

Default OK, lemme get this straight

Hi Tom,

Are you saying that anyone who goofs while filling out an unfamiliar form is a moron? Is that your considered judgement? If so, I'm a moron. A moron who doubts, BTW, that you've correctly filled out every single form you've ever filled out.

Sincerely,

Boyd "The Moron" Stone

Default See What the Controversial Ballot Actually Looks Like

> Are you saying that anyone who goofs while
> filling out an unfamiliar form is a moron?

Everyone has "goofed" on a form at one time or another. The difference here is one is voting for the President of the United States.

Therefore, one should take those few extra minutes to look the ballot over first.
If that person didn't understand the ballot, all they had to do was ask for help. At that point, one person from each party would step into the voting booth, to provide assistance with explaning how the ballot works.

Every person is allowed to receive up to 3 ballots if they "goof" up on the first 2. Of course, the first ones are discounted.

Next, every person should recheck their "answers." Just like taking a test in high school and college, NEVER turn in your test until you have rechecked your answers 3 times. You will almost always discover a mistake you made.

It is difficult for me to understand how someone could not take the time to at least double check their work. For example, if I was voting for 10 different people, and I had 11 holes punched, that should be a real indication I made a mistake.

But most importantly, each person needs to QUIT taking everything the media has to say as Gospel. Always ask yourself in EVERY situation, "What is their agenda?" This keeps you on your toes, and not gullible to being swayed or taken in. This is very important if you want to run your own business!

If you haven't seen what the controversial ballot looks like, you need to! Dien has provided a link to a site which shows the top portion of the ballot.

Now keep in mind, the actual ballot is at LEAST 10 times larger than the photo. (See for yourself how difficult that ballot was, or was not, to use.)

Also remember, a sample ballot was placed in the newspapers with directions before election day. And also, a sample ballot was sent to EVERY household in the state before the election.

If you plan on becoming successful, you MUST be responsible for your own actions! Don't let, or expect, anyone to do your thinking for you. Take the time to study, be informed, and be prepared. Successful people are LEADERS, not followers.

Thanks,
Diane Everroad

Default What if the positions of the names were reversed?

Many found it confusing because Gore's name was placed 2nd from the top on the left, and Bush's name was at the top, when the 2nd hole from the top was actually for Pat Buchanan....

But what if that was reversed? What if it was Gore at the top, and Bush below him....

Would someone different then be elected?

Should the choice for the US President come down to *where* they were placed on the ballot? That seems to be what it *could* boil down to....

I realize this is an important issue for some.... (Since I'm not really a Bush or Gore supporter, I'm not too partial here....)

But what if it happened that Gore was on top, and Bush was below? Would the situation be reversed?

Is that what the Presidential election should boil down to -- blind chance as to *where* you were on the ballot paper?

I'm just thinking about hypotheticals, and playing "devil's advocate".... I don't mean to rile anyone up....

Dien Rice

P.S. Bringing this back to marketing, here's something I remember reading.... (Unfortunately, I don't fully remember where I read it....)

Someone wanted to do a test a year or two ago about the importance of *secure* order forms. So they put two links, one for the *secure* order form, and one for the normal (unsecure) order form....

They stuck the links one above the other. The person could order via either link....

They did a test. For half the people, they saw the secure order link on top, and the unsecure order link below it....

The other half saw them in the reverse order, with the unsecure link on top.

Which did most people pick?

They found that, most people picked the *top* link -- no matter what it was!

I find this result interesting.... There's a lot more that could be relevant in a ballot paper -- or in an order form -- than might first meet the eye....

P.P.S. Let's be careful we don't get too heated on these political topics (since that could be a danger)....

Default It should be an ''Important Issue'' for you Dien...

Dien ~

When you say:

"I realize this is an important issue for some.... (Since I'm not really a Bush or Gore supporter, I'm not too partial here....)"

I sit here and wince! Because you, and the rest of the World, should take a very close look at what happens here in the States. Even though you have no vote, or involvement in the outcome.

The very first thing which comes to mind is World Power. Bush has basically come right out and said if he were in the Whitehouse and surfaced who was responsible for the terroristic bombing of the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen... There would be a heavy toll to pay.

If Gore gets elected, he and the Democratic Party would no doubt come up with some terrible affliction these terrorists sufferred as children, to cause them to bomb our ships!

What type of household would you prefer??? One which is disciplined and all the kids play well together??? Or one in which there is no discipline. Kids running everywhere... Knocking over your personal belongings... Jumping on your lap causing you grief and pain??? While the parents say "Oh they'll grow out of it someday..."

Then there is the World Economy to consider. In which the U.S. affects tremendously through the Secretary of Labor and the Secretary of the Treasurey. Any increase or decrease in our financial system, Consumer Price Index, etc., sends a ripple effect throughout the Worlds economy.

There are so many different nuances to be aware of... Both locally as well as globally it amazes me!

The States are an integral part of virtually all aspects of the World somehow. And it is going to affect many who believe they have no part of it.

Doesn't the rest of the family suffer if Mom or Dad make certain decisions??? So it goes with the Presidency... If Gore or Bush is going to have Line Item Veto powers... It will eventually effect not only me, but the rest of the World as well.

What I mean is that, to me personally, it is not too critical which guy out of the two ends up at the helm....

That's because personally, I see both positives and negatives for each of them....

Of course, everyone has a different opinion, and the USA itself is practically split down the middle....

Actually, I do have a vote (I'm a dual citizen -- USA and Australia)....

It's not very common, but there are a few of us around. :)

Regarding Gore and Bush specifically, there are things I both like and dislike about each candidate.... That's what I meant. :)

Default Mr. Rodman, while the world waits, this puts fear in my heart

Mr. Rodman,

May I respectfully submit a question to you?

As a mother and businesswoman, I am concerned about the future of our country as we know it.
It seems that everyone I know is holding their breath and feeling very discouraged over what is happening in Florida. It does matter a lot.

Perhaps some here have read Al Gore's books and have a truer understanding of what makes this man tick. The average law abiding middle class christian person in mid-american doesn't know Al Gore. They are being deceived. But just wait. If he takes the office, there will be grief in the hearts of millions of decent good hearted people.

If these people in the heartland of America knew more about the man (Gore) who is trying to take the office of president through such dishonorable and stubborn maneuvers, they would become depressed. Our lives in America under a Gore administration will never be the same. Corruption and moral decay will thrive and accelerate.

A friend who owns an insurance agency asked me to read a report that gives an indepth look at Gore. It can be read at http://www.mcalvany.com under the *special report* section. Part 2 is the scariest part of the report, at least for me. I learned about the Gore and Soviet connection and how Gore's father had a very influential communist Soviet 'angel' who took him from being a poor school teacher, to a man of great wealth. Then, the communist began to use his influence to shape the senior Gore to shape the junior Gore and....

If you want to learn more about the man who is hell bent on pushing his way into office, then I urge you to read that report. But don't stop at Part 1. Part 2 is where the "meat" is.

I wish that someone could say something to comfort my fears. This is a sad day for America as we watch this event unfold. Here we go again with another corrupt administration that we may never recover from. There is a world of difference in these two men, and I see it as a struggle between good and evil. Am I over reacting? I don't think so.

Anyone that can read that report and tell me it isn't true and can reassure me is welcome to do so. Because if it is true, then we are going to be in deep doo doo. And America will never be the same again.

Mr. Rodman, have you read this report? I respect your opinion and it seems that we are on the same side in this election. Do you think this report is exaggerating?

Thoughtfully,
Mary

Default The Rev. Sun Myung Moon Connection

I can't believe that we're going to let the Moonies run our country!

The cult leader, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, calls America the "Kingdom of Satan," and he has strong connections with George Bush Sr. and the Republican party, and guess who we're putting in charge.

Will we be able to sleep safely?

Default A ''Conspiracy Theory''???

Mary(?) ~

I do not subscribe to Conpiracy Theories. I haven't read any of the "Special Reports" you referred to either.

I do find this a rather odd coincidence though...

Three men selling Florida Navel Oranges were spotted hanging around the Polling Booths last Tuesday here in our town. All holding one hand near their ear while speaking into their shirtsleeves.

After I cast my Ballot for Bush and began to leave.. I heard tires squealing around the corner. It happened so quickly, and because of all the road grime on the back bumper of the dirty, white Ford Econoline Cargo van. I was barely able to make out the 'Gore 2000' sticker next to the U.N. license plates!

When I returned home... My newspaper wasn't in the usual spot! When I opened the door... My dog wouldn't come out to greet me but stayed shivering under the bed! I also noticed the feint odor of freshly peeled oranges in the air! Which was weird, because I use a blend of Cinnamon/Apple Spice in my potpourri pot! :-O

Later that evening I heard of the troubles in Florida and was watching CNN (Clinton News Network) for up to date information of the nights election count.

When they showed Gore at the podium, roughly around 9:45 MST, over his left shoulder I saw him!!! The very same guy who was selling Florida Navel Oranges outside of my Polling area!!! Only this time he was wearing dark glasses!!! Talking into his same sleeve!!! :-O

After realizing how close I came to being garrotted by a rogue KGB Agent... I needed a drink!

But when I went to my liquor cabinet... My Vodka was GONE!!! A quick trip to my refrigerator also revealed the last of my Minute Maid Orange Juice had been consumed... And not by ME!!!

The very next day I listened to a report of a twin-engine plane being discovered at a crashsite deep within Cuban jungles! Allegedly carrying Ballot Boxes disguised as orange crates!!!

But when the U.S Officials were allowed into the area to investigate... There was nothing left except a few metal shards. But they were able to locate the Black Box recording device, buried deep in the jungle floor, which had gone unnoticed by the Cuban soldiers!

They couldn't make anything out on the tape but when it was played backwards... Jesse Jackson could be heard singing "I am The Walrus!"!!!

Later that evening a radio intercept picked up a transmission from Fidel Castro to Moscow... The only words on the transmission were... "I am the Eggman... Koo Koo Ka Choo..."!!!

Then today as I was listening to "Rush" on the EIB Network (Excellence In Broadcasting). He was talking about a high ranking Cuban Military Official who was rumored to have been executed two days after the Polls closed! Then Rush began a promo spot!!! He was advertising Florida Orange Juice!!!

AAarrrggghhh!!!!

Coincidence??? I think not!
