![]() Why not make sure you get to know these people.
I realized the other day I managed to pick up several very lucrative cleaning accounts this year because my competitors went out of business. I happened to pick up these accounts because I know these people, as friends, and when they decided to get out of the business, they presented the opportunity to take over the accounts to me, rather than just letting them go. Since many small businesses are just too small to sell, or the owner simply gets sick and tired of the business, why not be the first in your business to have a chance to pick up additional revenue. I'm not suggesting that you be a vulture waiting for the right moment to pick the bones clean, but if a business owner is struggling and you can provide some relief to them, you have helped them and helped yourself too.
