Default take action now or make sure you are ready

to go all the way?

some say the important thing is to take action now and then redirect your aims accordingly
others say plan it out and make sure you are totally ready to go 'all the way' before you start
Personally I am halfway between the two. I have set goals til they are coming out of my ears and have tonnes of ideas (perhaps too many!), i have taken the first few steps now find that i dont have enough self belief or a high enough self esteem to really push on. So I am working on that aspect via workshops and books so my journy can continue.
However am I just making an excuse because i dont want to carry on my journey or is this a neccesary service stop?
Has anyone else found themsleves in this position?
perhaps if I had ensured my self esteem was ready before i set off it may have been better or perhaps im just using it as an excuse to not step into the unknown!!

Default You opened some major issues

Hi,

Gordon, M. Ross and many others side with this viewpoint.

This is the viewpoint I support. There's as many ways to make money as there are people. Making money is *easy.* To me, "just doing something" has an element of impulsiveness in it. I tend to believe that doing the right thing is more important than getting started quickly.

An interesting factoid is that people who sell business opportunities can actually decrease competition by telling everything they know: information piles up and suffocates action. Ideas multiply like a virus and make you ill. (Unless you know how to filter and sort them by knowing what you were born to do.)

Self esteem is the key to success. Take Britney Spears--she has adequate looks and talent, but she owes her extreme success to her extreme and impenetrable self-confidence; she's 200% convinced that she has the right to be rewarded richly for doing what she wants to do.

In our little marketing community Mike Van Norden is an example of someone with unshakeable self-confidence.

It's a necessary service stop. Do what you want to do. Don't worry if it's the "right" thing to do.

I did.

I've always had low self-esteem. My low self-esteem made me waste time and money searching for gurus and depending on "daddies." I still have low self-esteem, but now I've developed an attitude of "screw it--I'm gonna do what I want to do." Maybe you could adopt this same attitude: "I'm rather imperfect. So what? I forgive myself for being what I am, and I have the right to go after what I want."

Actually, come to think of it, you can channel low self-esteem and turn it into an advantage. I've channeled my low self-esteem into cynical care-taking. I'm not a tall, proud warrior who will attract attention and invite attacks, I'm a little rat who will dart out of the wall after dark, grab some bread and run for cover. My low self-esteem won't prevent me from enjoying the grub. See what I mean?

Good luck to you and me both.

Best,

-Boyd
