Default PARKER PUBLISHING...any other Old members of the book club?

I once had a great collection of books, baseball cards, comics, and assorted papers.

It was lost in the "great flood", NO, not the one with Noah, although my beard may make you think so.

But one of my favorite group of books were from Parker Publishing out of West Nyack NY.

ODD books on strange subjects, as well as buiness books too.

Just wondered if anyone else was in the book club and if so, what were your favorites?

Gordon Alexander

PS. This "flashback" was brought on by a question at Taylor Trump's forum about James K. Van Fleet, who had several titles published by Parker.

>Gordon,

I had, (and may still have), a copy of James K. Van Fleet's book entitled "How To Influence People" or something similar. You've made me anxious to find it to reread. I don't recall having any other Parker Publishing books in particular.

Default Sounds like MY library got washed down to your house Bruce, or is it

true, that GREAT minds think alike?

Maybe we can work out a deal for the Harvey Brody stuff. I spoke with Harvey last week, and he thinks HIS old work is worthless when held up against what he is doing NOW...and after listening to him, SPELLBOUND, I think he may be right.

Imagine that Bruce...Harvey of yesteryear...terrific...Harvey of today...

AWESOME....

Let's hope he decides to share his secrets with a deserving few. I'll be the first in line if deemed worthy...

I liked James K. Van Fleet earlier works, especially the mental stuff...

Got IT, the summary of all the other programs, I think this was a brillant piece of Marketing too, don't you Gary? When you read about all the books you didn't have, it made you want to order, well, at least it worked on me...

Hi Gary,

I call upon Rodney Dangerfield/W.C. Fields...

"Who would want to join a club that would have someone like ME as a member?"...HA!

Here, I thought I personally kept companies like Parker in business.

Bet you have George Haylings stuff too? How about Benson Barrett...a test of how far you go back...he.hee

Maybe we should start a lending library or research center...contribute our old books to a custodian of the arcane, the mystical, the magical secrets to sucess...

Thanks for reminding me about those classics and giving me an idea about marketing...hmmmmm...

That Parker Editorial STAFF has me thinking...

Glad to see Ron Ruiz pick up on that idea with his new newsletter.
So, as long as we're sorta playing "Go Fish" with our libraries; I noticed a book I've had around for a while titled; "Profit From Your Money-Making Ideas" by Herman R. Holtz. That's a real "meat and potatos",Hienz 57 variety of good marketing ideas book. Lots of useful information.

Gary

P.S. Oh, and I do have a signed copy of "Executive Golf" by Bill Bailey.

Me too. I've sent him a couple of ideas, but to refresh your memory here is what I wrote two years ago...

Can't reach his former site, bellicose.com/freelance but NOTE, Herman, like most genius {as revealed in research noted below} wears a beautiful white beard...

You've got me here Gary. Best I can do is a 1960 signed golf hat by Ohio State Buckeye Jack Nicklaus...

I might be willing to trade a Lee Trevino signed golf book {he said I was the only one who bought it} for the Bill Bailey however...

Gordon,

That was Groucho. It was either from "A Day at the Races," or that one where they were on a cruise ship. (I stopped drinking from aluminum cans, but not quite soon enough, I guess.)

Default I stand corrected...I thought it came from

a 1930's W.C. Fields movie called
THE GOLF SPECIALIST where W.C. plays
J. Effingham Bellweather

But I defer to your expertise in such matters without doing a check...

Although I thought Groucho did say a similar line in the 1933 classic DUCK SOUP where Rufus T. Firefly utters about joining a club and beating her over the head with it...and then delivers the line...

But, as you are the senior member, I defer to wisdom of the aged...

We're both probably wrong, I'm sure SOMEONE with the time on their hands will let us know...

until then, you're the MAN...

Wanna go two out of three on the Little Rascals?

This board just gets better all the time. And it isn't even officially open yet! Harvey Brody, Herman Holtz,George Haylings,( I LOVE his "A Lifetime Of Homework"). All names from my past studies. This internet thing is great. I think it might catch on!!!

If Harvey Brody thinks his new stuff makes his old stuff seem WORTHLESS, I'm stunned. Where do I sign up for the new stuff? I trust you got the E-Mail from me with the list of Mr. Brody's materials I found. Just let me know which you want and let's work out the details.

Best,
Bruce (NameDropper) Arnold

P.S. - I like the idea of a central source lending library or idea center for the old classics.
