How is "IT" going to change the world???

Hi,

Check out the "IT" link below for an article about "IT." "IT" is an invention; the article says "...another investor, Credit Suisse First Boston, expects Kamen's invention to make more money in its first year than any start-up in history, predicting Kamen will be worth more in five years than Bill Gates. [Steve] Jobs told Kamen the invention would be as significant as the PC, the proposal says."

I suspect "IT" is an improved battery, which, and listen up here, IS THE #1 NEEDED INVENTION IN THE WORLD. Why do I think an improved battery is the most needed invention? Because the world gets unlimited energy from the Sun in the form of sunlight: as Heinlein said first "It's raining soup. All we need is a bucket."

I don't know what "IT" is but I know I want one!!!!! :-)

Wow, thanks, this is very interesting!

I hadn't heard of Dean Kamen, so I did some searching around on the 'net....

I found an extensive article about him from Wired magazine (I've linked to it below).... It's fascinating reading.

He seems to be like a modern-day Edison or Tesla. It's nice to know that someone like that exists!

His list of accomplishments, which I read in the article, is incredible.... I'm very impressed. And he's self-taught too! Nowadays, he has teams of engineers working for him on product development, like Edison did....

One of his current projects is the Stirling engine, which, according to the Wired article....

Kamen hopes it can be developed into an affordable, portable machine that will run a water purifier/power generator that could zap contaminated H20 with a UV laser to make it safe for drinking. "It can burn any fuel, and you can do all kinds of things with it," he says. "It might be very valuable in emerging economies, giving them access to electricity, even the Net."

This would be quite incredible too, but I don't think that's what the "secret" invention is....

This could be a reference to the "secret" invention....

Another project, to be unveiled in the next year, will necessitate building "the largest company in New Hampshire," Kamen says with characteristic bravura. He's shy about details, except to say it involves a consumer device unrelated to health care and will require $100 million in financing. Among the investors: Kleiner Perkins.

Unfortunately, that doesn't give away very much!

Given Kamen's past record (which you'll see is VERY impressive if you read the Wired article about him), I think his claims should definitely be taken seriously....

I know I'll be keeping a look out to see what this is about. :)

If anyone actualizes this idea, please do the right thing and give me 1% of your profits, OK?

Here's the idea for an incredibly needed invention:

* A lie detector that really works.

Think about the O.J. Simpson trial. If you could have just attached Simpson to your workable lie detector on the day of his arrest, and used it to disclose whether O.J. did the deed or not, that whole long, messy, expensive trial could have been avoided.

This device by itself would improve the world in a measurable way.

Just my 2,000,000,000 cents.

Hi,

I was just listening to the cable financial channel, CNBC...and they were discussing this on the 'Power Lunch' program.

Seems that many who have been speculating at length are now coming to believe...or zeroing in on, according to the show host, that this IS going to be a flying auto or some other kind of personal 'hover' machine.

Wonder if we will have to have a special license to fly or 'hover'? :~) Sounds like fun to me!

Everyone is certainly 'buzzing' about "IT".
