![]() If you’re like me, you probably have your favorites folder chock full of links you visit every day. You may even have your links organized into sub folders in your browser, labeled “forums”, “account access pages” and other structured sub headings you save all your regular visited sites.
Now some of those URLs are darn hard to remember. Some almost as hard as remembering cellular telephone numbers. Take for example this forum URL.... Could you retype it in without looking from memory?…. Probably not. http://www.sowpub.com/cgi-bin/forum/webbbs_config.pl Now what happens when you are away from your trusty PC? On holiday without your laptop (if you have one), at the office, using a friend’s PC, at an Internet Café or Internet Access Kiosk and you need to check your site stats, your secure server for new orders, or the latest gossip on all your regular forum rounds? Even at your day job office PC… You may not want the Boss or a snooping co-worker to view certain web sites you visit, so you won’t want to keep them in the favorites folder for all to see. Well you could just write them all in a little black notepad or punch them into your Palm Pilot organizer…. But that would be a pain to retype them into the browser each time. Well here’s what I’ve done….. You simply create a “secret” Web page on your Web site (password protected if you like) and cut and paste all your favorite links from your browser on to it. (Some browsers allow you to export all your favorites folders into an HTML file, so the process is relatively easy) If you want to make it even neater… You make each link you clicked on open in a separate browser window. This way your “Links” page is always open on the desktop ready for your next link you want to visit without having to hit the “back” button a dozen times or access the “history” folder. Now anywhere you maybe in the World, so long as you can get to a PC with Internet access independent of whatever browser it may use…. You can always have access to all your favorites by just remembering your own special Website URL “Personal Links” page and the one password to open it! Or even easier… Just have a password-protected link or graphic on your Web site’s index page. Taking this one step further you could also have a secret page that lists all your user Ids and passwords formatted in a secret code that only you can decipher for added security. Hmm…. How about a page with offline personal numbers like Passport number, Driver’s Licence number, credit card numbers, & expiry dates just in case you lost your wallet and documents while travelling in a foreign land? Even if you don’t have a your own Web site… You can always set a page up on a free Web host just for this purpose. Did I hear some one whisper, “Now, why didn’t I think of that!” Warmest Regards & Success Ricky Higgs One Web Site Where All The Top Internet Marketers Are Listed ![]() |
