Default 7 Problems of the Rich...

Believe it or don't, rich people have problems too...

Their problems tend to be different from those of ordinary folk.

I'm writing about them here, not so we can all feel sorry for them, but because...

Problems mean an opportunity!

If you can help solve some of these problems, it could mean a profitable business or product for you...

I've gotten these from multiple sources...

Here are 7 problems of the rich !

1. In our culture, you are not allowed to feel sorry for rich people, or have any empathy.

For example, if a wealthy person gets cancer, the reaction of most people is something like...

"So what if you have cancer?!! You still have $X million dollars!"

Of course, whether you are rich or poor, cancer would frighten the dickens out of you. However, the wealthy are not allowed to complain in our society - because they're rich.

That's one reason why many wealthy people only have other wealthy people as their friends, since many normal people can't seem to treat them normally...

2. Another problem people who get very rich can have is, they don't know if people like them for who they are, or if they just want to get something from them. They don't know if people only "like" them for their money!

If you don't have much money or power, then it's clear - if someone likes you, most likely it is genuine, and they actually do like you. However, if you are very wealthy - it no longer is clear, since a lot of people will pretend to like you, in the hope of getting something out of you.

It's a problem they can face every day...

3. There's the problem of raising their kids.

If they give their kids too much access to money, their kids could end up being spoiled brats. However, if they don't give their kids enough access to money, the kids could end up being quite resentful of their parents.

How can they raise their kids, so the kids feel a sense of responsibility, when their kids know that they'll eventually have millions of dollars coming their way?

It's a tough problem to solve!

4. Of course, the very wealthy have potential security risks.

They, or their family members, could be kidnapped and held for ransom. It's happened multiple times before. Not just in the movies...!

5. The rich have a bigger risk of drug addiction. Why? Because they have easier access to all drugs than any "normal" person does, due to their wealth. That removes one of the barriers from drug addiction - being able to obtain and afford the drugs in the first place...

6. People who inherit money, as opposed to making it themselves, have their own special problems. One of those is the problem of self-worth.

They've inherited all this money, and did nothing for it. As a result, they don't really need to do anything in life. In many cases, they can feel that they have little self worth, and also little motivation to do anything about it as well.

7. Finally, some people who become wealthy do so because of a traumatic financial experience in their childhood.

I read a story about a very wealthy person whose parents owned a business when he was a child, which then went bankrupt. His family then spent years living in a friend's garage, which was very traumatic for him.

He became wealthy, motivated by the thought that he never wanted to go through anything like that again.

The problem is, it means he's never satisfied, and always feels financially insecure - no matter how wealthy he becomes. The drive that helped him become wealthy, is also a problem, too...

These are real problems the rich face... If you could help to solve them, there could be a lucrative business opportunity in it for you...!

Best wishes,

Dien

P.S. On other problems to solve... Could you please fill in Gordon's survey on new sub-forums?

http://www.sowpub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=34548

(You have to log in to fill it in...)

If you could help us with that, it'll help to make this forum a better place for everyone, so you and everyone else can all get more out of it...

And good karma will be sent your way...!

I realize that for many people this will be controversial...

We're supposed to help the poor, right?

"What's this a**hole doing taking about helping the rich? The rich can bloody well help themselves!"

Hmmm... Good point!

It's good to help everybody... But if you want to be well paid for your time...

It goes against what some may consider "good citizenship"... You won't get a boy scout merit badge by solving the problems of the rich, compared to helping little old ladies carry their shopping bags... But you could be rewarded better financially...

I know... I got the boy scout merit badges! And there wasn't one for this...

If you disagree with me, we can talk after I move to Maui...

Best wishes!

Dien

Hey Dien.....who gives a "Rats_ss" about the "Rich"? Nobody CARES! Once they have their moolah.....us "regular" folks could care less about what they do with their money!

The MAIN reason I became a member back when you first started up was...the words "SEEDS OF WISDOM"!

I got a LOT of "Wisdom" in the early days....helped INSPIRE me to do LOTS of ENTROOPENEERIAL things.

And.....I went to a very "Upper-Class" University (Northwestern) where I got to know about "the RICH".

I learned about how the HEIRS of fortunes cared ONLY about themselves (for the most part) but......I also learned how their fathers & grandfathers made their money......mostly by GETTING AN IDEA and....STICKING THEIR NECKS OUT.....GOING FOR THE "GUSTO".....against ALL Odds.....then, using their PASSION for their project to carry them forward.

Hey.....again, I LIVED WITH and got to KNOW....some of the great CREATORS of wealth in our society thru their offspring....who Mostly were "Takers"!.....and very selfish, lackadaisical.....NOT motivated to do much of anything in their lives except HOW to enjoy the fruits of their ancestors.

So....my reason for responding today, since you brought up the topic about "The Rich"....is to have you (and viewers") again....look at WAYS to "Get Rich".....WHAT does it take.....HOW to go about....."becoming Rich" in our present day society.....which, in my Opinion is More Geared to "providing HANDOUTS" (49 MILLYUN Americans collecting FOOD STAMPS every month and the Democrat-ICK Party is the "Answer"....gimmee a break)

WE are NOT being told the TRUTH by the media and the curRENT REGIME in Washington about what is REALLY going on in our country.

So.....I'm looking forward to SOWPUB being a "Finger in the Dike" of "Socialism" by the Liberals who have convinced many Americans to DEPEND ON DA GUMMIT....for their "Livelihood"!

"GOD HELP US IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS when the "Illegals and Children from South America" get to vote!

Anyways.....one answer is.....come up with a way To Get Rich.....then turn your cash into Gold & Silver and go live on an island with some goats cause THIS COUNTRY has been taken over by the "Takers".

Don Alm.....knowing that my 6 grandkids WILL be in a "different America" than when I was growing up.

Hi Don,

I agree with you that looking to live off of unemployment benefits is not a good way to live your life...

I can say I've never taken unemployment benefits in my life. Not that I haven't sometimes been "hard up"... But I figured it would be better for myself to figure out how to get out of my situation using my own wits, if I could...

There are risks - it's easier to do when you're younger and don't have people depending on you... But, I think it sharpens your mind and "forces" you to learn how to "survive"...!

The skills you learn will be ones that will serve you well for the rest of your life!

I do currently know and have known some "rich" people. The richest guy I know I estimate is worth tens of millions... and he's one of the nicest people I know. However, he was "self-made" - and was born to a poor family. He didn't inherit his wealth.

As you point out, many of those who inherit their wealth are quite different - they can be "takers"! Their parents probably didn't want their kids to be like this - but there's no "manual" I know of on how to bring wealthy kids up so they don't end up this way.

There's a saying... The first wealthy generation makes the money, the 2nd generation maintains it, and the 3rd generation spends it all...

This problem of how they should raise their kids (so they're not just "takers") is an opportunity (if you can solve the problem for them)!

Anyhow, what you've done (on this forum and elsewhere) is great, how you've shown people how to "pull themselves up by their bootstraps" and create wealth, I think is amazing!

I'm always grateful for the peek inside what you're doing... I've learned a lot of valuable stuff from your posts over the years...

I always recommend people listen to Don Alm - because he's not afraid to "tell it like it is" when it comes to setting up and successful business, and that "tell it like it is" advice is very good for your bank account...!

We need more people like this, teaching others "how to fish" (and not just "handing out" the "fish")... And what a great change that would make to individuals, and to society as well...!

Best wishes,

Dien

I think that most people have this idea that ‘money can just fix everything’ – which is true to a certain extent. Can having a great deal of money make your life a lot easier? Absolutely. However, the truth is that you cannot fix every problem in the world by throwing money at it. It simply does not work.

Hi,

Thanks for your posts. I agree with you totally.

Money helps to solve all the money problems - for example, paying bills, putting food on the table, keeping the heating going, all those kinds of things.

Money also opens doors.

For example, the things that were not possible before, are now possible. This can be a good thing or a bad thing.

If you have vices, it could make them worse. If you like taking drugs, now you can take all the drugs you want - and that's probably not a good thing! If you like hurting people, with money, you can hurt even more people than before...

However, if you like helping people, you can now help them more than you ever could before. So it works both ways!

I think the key is to remember that the teaching is not that "money is the root of all evil" (as people sometimes mistakenly say), but instead that "love of money is the root of all evil."

Money itself is a kind of tool, which can be used for either good or bad!

One day, we should talk about the psychology of money... It's a big and very important topic!

Best wishes,

Dien

although you have stated some solid problems but this is not a hard and fast rule which will apply on every rich person , simply look around you and find a single person who left his money due to any your single stated reason . on other hand we all are still trying to be rich in our life .
