Default Re: Joe Karbo: Rare Television Interview

I've had the good fortune of being in business WITH Gary Halbert (my "Fax-Bux" program I sold to his list)....and knowing Joe Sugarman when he started his first business from a small office I'd pass by in Wheeling, IL (Northern suburb of Chgo)

One day, as I was passing his office in the wee hours I decided to drop in and found Joe and 3 girls working feverishly on getting a mail project out. He showed me what he was doing and how he was selling. Joe's first product was a fancy calculating machine. He went on to sell many products mostly by running display ads. He had a unique way of positioning the ads. I think Blu-Blocker sunglasses was his last product.

When Joe moved into a fancy office in Northbrook (where I lived) I'd stop by at some of his "Marketing Meetings".....which he also held on weekends at a lake in Wisconsin.

I went to some of Joe Cossman's seminars and got to know Jerry Buchanan when he moved to Vancouver, WA and discovered the "Secret" to getting rid of Moles and Gophers.

Since Vancouver was just across the border from Oregon I visited Jerry a few times and watched how he gathered and put together his Newsletter. He thought my "Marketing System" was great of;
Getting prosepcts to phone a Recorded Message and leave their Mailing Address
Whereupon I'd send a 4 page sales letter giving reasons why they should buy my Report and.....telling them they Already Had It....it was in the Floppy Disk enclosed with my sales letter......to get it they had to phone my Order No and the clerk would give them the encrypted code to open the Floppy.

I also used the same "Marketing System" when I sold my "Biz-Worth" disks to biz owners. This was a Floppy that would tell them what their business was worth, in the privacy of their office. They'd phone my Voice Mail.....listen to a 2-min sales pitch and leave their mailing address where I'd send a sales letter AND the Encrypted Floppy.

"Curiosity" forced them to Order and get the Un-Lock Code.

Anyways.....great re-living the "old-days".

Default More Cliff notes here...

Harvey Brody had a health scare, and all he could do was think while flat on his back...he accepted responsibility for his own health
and today is a robust 80 year old with the energy of a twenty something. He should dictate a healthy diet book.

Robert Collier also had a serious health problem, he too turned to his mind for answers. He credits the teachings of Ernest Holmes and others for discovering his secrets.

You may know R. C. from his advertising book, The Robert Collier
Letters
, which is a great study in remote direct marketing.

William Walker Atkinson
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Walker_Atkinson

Combined his studies in New Thought with his love of writing and Publishing. Read his wiki page, he used many pseudonyms and wrote an estimated 100 books.

He also created correspondence courses, and was a very successful publisher and REMOTE Direct Marketer. He ran direct response ads in his magazines.

Robert Collier found this method when he started selling his own "metaphysical" course which became the book, The Secret of the Ages. R.C. "copycatted" the methods and content of WWA.

So, Joe Karbo told me it was a combination of Robert Collier's and Ernest Holmes' books, The Secret of the Ages and Science of Mind, respectfully, from which he drew the essence of Dyna-Psych.

Interesting note, all the above were direct marketing successes, they loved paper and ink, all sold newsletters on various subjects.

Some of the very best, and most successful Remote Direct Marketers, had/have nothing to do with Making Money/Business/Marketing.

I studied their success with as much passion as I did the mailorder guys focused on biz/money.

Lots of great lessons found.

Gordon

I did not know much about Joe Karbo as I had mentioned.

Well acquainted with the works of those names you mentioned that worked with Harvey.

Any details on William Atchinson? I never heard that name before. Is he a Direct Marketing/Mail Order Guy? Be interested to see the "originator" of the Dyna-Psych

I appreciate the history lesson Gordon.

Cheers

I'm not sure if it was Joe Karbo or another guy named Don Joseph. I remember reading a direct mail piece from Joseph MANY years ago that had something related to the phone book.

Default Thanks Rick.....

Yup.....it WAS "Don Joseph". He lived in S.Southside of Chgo and started the "Ads on Hard Plastic Phone Book Covers" there...then wrote a booklet about what he was doing.

I bought his Book and sample Covers and I made a bundle....back when Phone Books was the MAIN source of Info.

I could get 100 Ads @ $295 on those things.

Thanks again,

Don Alm

The easiest way is to reset your computer to an earlier date.
its like turning back time to before the computer got infected.
Its very easy. Just google reset computer to earlier date
and put windows or whatever brand your computer is

Hi Don,

Just letting you know that I didn't change anything in the forum... So (as you suspect), I think it is some kind of virus you have...

What to do? I think you should probably get updated anti-virus software...

I use AVG Free - http://free.avg.com . However, be warned, in my experience they sometimes try to "trick" you to getting the paid version (e.g. saying you need to pay to upgrade, and implying the free version won't work any more, etc.)... So if you use it, keep that in mind...

Best wishes,

Dien

Thanks guys.....I used my MalWare program to remove it. I have to remember to "NOT accept" any other programs when downloading the program I want.

Have a great day.
