Default I see by the news...Opportunity!

Flint MI, federal disaster area, their DRINKING water is, not drinkable. I know cities across the country are facing similar problems...mainly due to rising costs of water sources and water treatment.

Municipalities are low on money, so in Flint's case, they got water from a nearer source...a very bad source and a very bad idea.

Flint will not be the only city in crisis over WATER. Opportunity?

MACY'S and WALMART are closing stores. MACY's at many malls, in which they are an anchor store.

Locally, our Chapel Hill Mall, once rated as one of the most profitable and most visited malls in America, is a ghost town and when MACY'S leaves, along with Old Navy, Aeropostale, Express are leaving this quarter, it is toast as a retail destination. The mayors of surrounding cities are holding special meetings, to avoid the devastating domino effect this will have. Opportunity?

Meanwhile, Signet Jewelers of Akron, is continuing to grow and dominate the jewelry take over. New plans, include the possible combining of brands, their many regional brands could have inside store kiosks of the national lines.

With many malls on the brink, look to this giant to see how it reacts since it usually has at least 2 stores per mall and maybe 2 free standing ones nearby. Opportunity?

Top Franchises and fastest growing franchises along with fast growing Biz-Op are focused in a just a few sectors.

Food.
Cleaning.
Home Services, with DIY growing daily.
Gyms, with many as meeting places.

Opportunity?

Yea, everyday we see opportunity, but it requires one to ACT on the opportunity.

The problem, as I stated in Before You Buy Anything, is

the biggest opportunity out there, is the one to WASTE a lot of your time, mainly by flitting from one thing to another and not focusing in on your real goals. Whatever they are.

As the malls moved in and grew, and as Walmart choked out locally run small business, I say it it is good to see them go...I detest big box stores and avoid patronizing them as much as possible.....really missing the local lumber yards made extinct by the likes of Home Depot.

Expect to see a rise once again of locally owned and operated small stores (mom and pop stores also) servicing the neighborhood needs left vacant by the giants dying. There is a time and a season, and opportunity is once again coming 'round.

SEARS at a Mall? DYING quickly.
SEARS Hometown and Outlet, one of the fastest growing franchises.

Home Depot and Lowes? Still OK, but
ACE Hardware also a fast growing "mom and pop" feel type store as is

Tractor Supply Company, serving smaller towns and doing very well.

Best Buy? What could you do with the one soon to be vacant near you? I think some sort of a game center or just a warehouse might work.

Walmart closing? YIKES, but, don't forget the roots, small town five and dime stores with a bit of everything at low prices...today's version:

Dollar General (and most dollar type stores are thriving)...

Bad news for middle class malls...those appealing to the affluent, with their designer brands, are looking good. Perhaps further proof of the growing chasm between the haves and the have nots.

Default Help and profit.

In my group:

An offer from a member to do a free resume and a free skills testing for the employees at the mall. Her backends are full job searches, coaching and job interviewing prep, the closings will probably double her income this year.

A member selling water purifiers, from counter top models to full house systems. He is working his way from Flint toward Chicago, and killing it too.

A member, a mother and daughter cleaning team are expanding and using the store closings to find immediate workers to help with their expansion.

A member brain storming ideas, by researching what other malls have been turned into, to help the Mayors and the company running this mall (in receivership) come up with viable ideas, he is creating plans and trying to get in the middle of any deals.

All of these people are trying to HELP others get what they want, and in so doing, are also getting what they want too, it seems to be working.
