Default Image Problem in Netscape....

Hi Susan,

Here's a great quote I read recently....

Einstein said, "The important thing is one should not stop asking questions."

So, thank you Susan for your question! :)

Here's one thing you can check....

In Netscape, click on the "Edit" button (at the top of the browser window).

From there, select "Preferences". Then click on "Advanced".

You'll see at the top a check box, which says "Automatically load images". If that's checked, then Netscape will load images, but if it's not, then it won't. So if it's not checked, that could be your problem.... Is this the case?

There could be other possibilities too, but this is the first thing I'd look at....

Anyhow, thank you for your question, Susan! Please let me know if that helped.... :)

Hi,

By using this code:

I got your image to show in Netscape.

You can view your the above image in Netscape by visiting:

Sorry, when I previewed my Message, your image, not the code, showed up. Therefore, if you email me, I'll email the code to you.

The best,

Dave

Default Other problems noted...

Your site is obviously designed specifically for those with a screen resolution of 800x600. When viewed at 640x480 which could represent as much as 13% of your traffic, you have an obvious white space in between your text and right-hand border.

At higher resolutions, which may be up to 30% of your sites visitors, who could be using 1024x768 or 1280x1024, the written part of your page that, was meant to appear on the middle white part of your page, overlaps the right-hand border making it hard to read.

My suggestion would be to change your main table to have three cells in one row. Set the TABLE width to 100% and then set your width in pixels for the first two cells. By NOT defining a width for the third cell, you can allow it to expand or contract based on the users resolution.

You don't have any content for the first cell. Knowing that Netscape will collapse empty table cells I would design a gif image of one color, and make it transparent. I would make it one pixel high, and the width in pixels of your left-hand border which would be 117. Then I would lock the second cell width at 498, and possibly include a nestled table in this cell so I would be in a position to make better use of Table attributes like CELLPADDING and CELLSPACING, which would help define a little white space around the edges so it doesn't look like your text is too close to the sides/borders.

Best Regards,
Steve MacLellan
