Default Interesting JOBS, BUSINESS and ways of making some DANG money...

A doll maker. I find that interesting. DOLLS are huge business. I didn't know that.

And that's true of about all the little NICHES out there, and sub niches and sub sub sub, well, you get the pic.

But I found myself at a Doll Show this past weekend and I talked to people who MAKE dolls, SELL dolls, BUY dolls, Collect and trade them.

It is not my cup of tea, dolls and clowns creep me out, I don't know why.

Several months ago I did a RARE video, if you think I sound like a 97 year old scratchy throated old man on audio, then the video would probably give you a real scare (maybe I can sell them for Halloween?)...

The video was JOBS, BUSINESS and DANG MONEY. A project I'm working on this month.

I'm one of those people that think JOBS can be a good thing. May NOT be right for you Entrepreneur or Business types...but for most people, IF they find the right JOB (or Career), it can be a very rewarding experience.

People get paid to make DOLLS. Get PAID BIG MONEY TOO. They work for someone else (OH, not all of them, some are big enough names in their niche, they are independent from the big guys)...but those that do work for the MAN, enjoy their work and are compensated too.

But most people lack the skill or desire to pursue an UNUSUAL career, they just need a JOB to pay the bills and get the MAN off their backs. And MOST people don't have a clue as to how to get one.

I have a friend that was downsized after 26 years at the same company, and the company gave her a "parting gift" of a job search service and resume company. They paid for 16 hours of consultation.

After 16 hours she has one of the crappiest, crummiest, cruddiest two page resumes I've ever seen. And now her 16 hours have been spent, IF she wants to continue on, she has to pay.

MAN, what a crock these "consultants" have going. BUT they are booming in the businesses because these companies don't mind paying a couple of thousand of dollars to help a 26 year employee find a job at half her pay rate.

Folks, this is America as I type.

BUT, as I said in the VIDEO, there are plenty of "hidden" or behind the closed doors JOBS that are just waiting for you IF you know how things work.

LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION
:

Why don't we know how things work? Is it the fault of our educational system? Our parents (who probably don't know either)...our society? Government? Or ourselves?

And business. Did anyone see the show on customer service, I think it was 20/20 or Dateline (I get them confused)...but the jist of the story was that there IS NO customer service in America, or it is very rare and hard to find.

Maybe. Maybe not.

But WHY isn't there a good, practical school/course/workshop on the realities of starting and sustaining a business? Why so much HYPE and marketing?

Well, of course it is because en masse, we are lazy, follow the crowd sheep waiting to be sheered, flock of fleeceable wool over our eyes, want something for nothing yahoos. Now, of course, that isn't YOU or I.

We're not part of the flock are we?

I'm just wondering out loud. If you have any thoughts on JOBS, or on Businesses or on Just making some dang money, I'd appreciate your comments as I'm putting the pieces together for this project.

JOBS? Any thoughts?

BUSINESS? Any ideas? (OH, I know at least 3 people who will respond, ha!).

DANG MONEY? When you don't have or want a job or a business?

Thanks for your time and attention.

I'm SHOCKED at how much crapola is out there, and most of this from the GOVERNMENT and the quasi gov't agencies who are sucking up money from the Workforce Investment Act, one of the greatest BOONDOGGLES and misuse of our TAX dollars since...well since the JTPA...

MY OPINION, yours may vary.

Gordon Jay Alexander

PS. NO surprise that I like Chatteling for some Dang Money is it?

Hi Godon, Yep I’m one of the 3. For me and several others making and
installing lifesaving reflective nightvision address signs and photography
has worked very well. But they are not for everyone.

But anyone can make some dang money with your Chatteling Report.

I bet your report would sell better if you priced it at $97.00

Just my opinion based on my personal experience.

If your report is valuable which I know it is people will believe its worth more if it costs more.
Why price it at just $24.95 like so many ebooks that are not worth the paper they are printed on?

I think people need your report but many pass it by because of the low price.
It’s worth far more than what you have been charging. . . Isn’t it?

Couldn't you shoot a short DVD / Video on the subject?
It would only add a little to your production costs but
would really increase the perceived value!

Like you I just went to a Doll Show last month for the first time
and was amazed by several things I discovered.

I was able to get almost a dozen one hour portrait sessions booked for
my photography services from attending that show and talking to people!

One couple with a booth at the show are really in the travel business.

They take groups of 30 to 40 people at a time on a tour of Doll Factories
in Europe 5 times a year. They charge over $20,000 per head and most
of their customers are repeat business who discovered this friendly couple
at a doll show.

Many of these repeat customers work 2 jobs so they can travel with them
to Europe each year. The husband has a buss that they use to tour the doll
shows and factories overseas. I have my commercial drivers license so I’m
thinking about volunteering to help them do some driving.

Cheers,

Steve Shulenski

PS… Thanks for SQ1 It’s really helped me.

Default Ah Steve, you're a little ahead of the curve...here's why:

This is for reference;

http://cgi.ebay.com/Mr-Chattel-and-h...em220036803834

with a buy it now price of 97, JUST as you suggested Steve...this was posted at eBay a few days ago.

It is part of the PROCESS of product development as I'm doing it:

Get SOMETHING out there (4.95, 14.95, 24.95 tests with different versions)
The course (12.00 and 15.00 a lesson)
The GUIDE...NOW selling for 49 with a 50% AFFILIATE program.

TESTING the 97.00 dollar eBay auction.

Getting FEEDBACK from the buyers, getting ideas from the forum, adding to the product. And MAYBE, just maybe there will be a video in the not so distant future for Chatteling. Maybe.

And a not too distant 495.00 product? Perhaps.

Thanks for your comment Steve on the SQ1...appreciated.

As for your businesses, I've referred my award winning college photographer kid to your web site...and if she wasn't so dang busy, she'd be doing the pet photo stuff...and maybe she will over the summer. Right now she's selling Brazillian jewelry (she spent 10 months there as an exchange student, AFTER she graduated high school)...and keeping plenty busy with her honors program {can you tell a proud daddy when you see one}....

But, I think she'll make some time to make some Pet Photo moolah soon.

YOU have demonstrated in the last couple of years that ACTION beats information every day of the week...that is, ACTION adjusted on the journey.

Thanks for your comments Steve.

Default Dolls Big Money?? YOU BETCHUM!

My mom was a doll maker.. Average price was about $475 per. An award winner no less, winning top Honors in her home state of Michigan, her adopted state of Florida, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, etc.

I even have the letter that Oprah sent her after she made a special doll for her back in the '90's.

When Dad passed away a few years ago, my sister & I inventoried all of the molds, kilns, etc. in the basement studio.. We figured around $40,000 worth.

Then, when Mom died last year my sis asked me to take the dolls. Gave most of them to my daughters, daughters-in-law, and my grandkids. Most of them still had the Blue Ribbons & price tags attached.. $450-$900 each.

Big bucks for sure if you're the "crafty" type. My folks were.

BUSINESS? Any ideas? (OH, I know at least 3 people who will respond, ha!).

I'm probably one of those three. I started my business part-time over 22 years ago. Back then I thought it must be rare to sell promotional advertising products. Turns out there are over 100K people (Out of the 300 Million US population as of 17 Oct '06) who earn full or parttime income selling these products. Bet it's a rare high school or college career counselor who points anyone in this direction.

But neither my business or sales is right for everyone. But there are thousands of other options for self-employment or small business that could be the ticket to a new career and more independence.

DANG MONEY? When you don't have or want a job or a business?

Then people do what they have to do ethically and within the law - Hold a garage sale or put items on eBay. Run an ad in the local paper for handy man, lawn mowing, housekeeping, sitting with the sick and elderly.

I'm finished.
