![]() Has anyone tested classified ads using USA Today?
I'd like your feedback before I jump in. It seems like the best way to reach the masses on short notice. Thanks |

I've have NOT tested classified advertising using USA Today. I have, however, tested classifieds in every major daily newspaper in Australia. The results I get are meaningless to you and have no bearing on the kinds of results you could expect. The reasons are: WHAT is being offered? WHERE is it being offered? HOW is it being offered? WHEN is it being offered? WHAT is your text like? WHAT do people have to DO? Are you trying to sell directly from the ad or using basic two-step or directing people to a voice-mail or directing people to an email or website? Is there ANYTHING going on in the world right now which will either hinder or enhance your likely response (India/Pakistan nuclear war? World Cup Soccer? Odd weather? etc.). I may have had great success selling designer label frangrances via classified ads weeks before they went up in price due to government laws which considered them a 'luxury' and thus increased their price by way of a 'luxury tax.' That doesn't mean that you will do as well after the tax, or as well selling bowties. The ONLY way you are going to know for sure whether the USA Today will work for you is to plonk down some money and run your ad. And even then, all you will learn is whether your ad worked. And you may need to test different ads before you find one that works the best. Hope this helps. Michael Ross. Get your copy of The Success Report NOW!!! Click here. |

![]() FRIDAYS, according to Don Alm & others who have used the USA Classifieds successfully. Apparently it is THE day for the classifieds, as evidenced by the size of that section on that day.
Also, I believe Don or someone said that you should use a regular phone number instead of a toll free number to weed out the "tire kickers" -- at least if you are running a biz op type ad. Good luck, Jim Erskine Homeway Press NEW! The Amazing Local Publishing SUCCESS PACK! ![]() |

![]() Hi,
Do you have a course about writing a local 4th of July book? This will be the 1st 4th after 9.11 (to write in mostly numerals). Best, B0yd |
