Default Time!

Gordon,

I'm really sorry I missed your bash, but I took the day off and did some family things. Just comming off the busy nursery season still has me strapped for time as usual.

What I wouldn't give for just a little more time.

Default Time in a Bottle

Time: the most precious, yet most wasted thing we possess.

Funny you should say that Mike. I just wrote a short article called 'Time in a Bottle' which touches on how you can get started managing your time.

It you fancy a read, take a look on http://www.BizE-zine.com/article_27.htm

I'm in the planning stage to write an ebook about the subject based on my real-world consultancy work, where managing time features strongly these days.

The main thing to remember is that time is finite. We all have the same 86,400 seconds every day. What is infinitely variable is our attitude towards those seconds.

Managing time is just the same as managing the money in our pockets. Time, dollars, pounds and euros have no mind of their own, so cannot really be managed. All we can do is manage ourselves; we can squander or we can save.

But since you seem to manage to get ten times more done than most folks, maybe you should manage your expectations more than your time! :-)

Or, you could be like the late (literally and figuratively) Douglas Adams, author of 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', who said. "I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as the fly by."

Martin.

Default "Small forward steps"

Martin,

Great article.

Great advice as well, maybe you should learn to manage your expectations, he tells me.

You make a good point.

I get really frustrated when I give my self a time frame to complete a project and that time comes and goes and I don't even get started.

However, if I get an inspiration I prioritize my time, and something else works it's way to the top of the list.

"Small forward steps" I tell myself.

Of course I am proud to say that if I get a chance to do something with my family, the work can wait. I'll never regret having done that!

Take care Martin!
