Default The physics behind success

Many people are perplexed by the fact that some people are successful and others are not. Maybe, I'm being naive, but I don't think the formula for success is too complicated.

I view success as a huge boulder that needs to be moved along an unlevel surface. At first, it's very difficult to get it going. It requires great effort and perhaps some ingenuity to get it to start moving. Once it gets moving, however, it tends to "stay in motion", as our friend Newton found. Speaking metaphorically, however, it doesn't stay in motion forever and without further effort. Even after the boulder is moving along at a steady pace, there will be inclines of various degrees. Some inclines will be so steep that they may even require more effort than was originally needed to get the boulder rollling in the first place. On the flip side, there will also be declines that serve as rewards along the way.

The bottom line to all of this is that some people are willing to get the boulder rolling and they take it to the greatest lengths, some people start the boulder in motion and then quit upon reaching an incline that's too steep and then there are others who never get the boulder moving in the first place. And while it's true that getting the boulder moving may be inherently easier for some people, the fact remains that there are ALL type of people moving their own personal boulders from all walks of life: quadripalegics, people who never went to "boulder moving school", people who couldn't afford expensive equipment to have the boulder moved for them, etc. Deciding whether or not you want to move your boulder is completely up to you. Regardless of your personal situation, it's never impossible to begin and it's not rocket science, it just may require more effort than you choose to exert. Regardless of your situation, you can be sure that there are people out there who's boulders were harder to get moving than yours is. Of course, if you're convinced that no one ever had a bigger boulder to get moving than you, you can spend your time searching for someone who did or you can simply convince yourself that you have the biggest boulder in the world and it's simply impossible for you to get it moving, or you can simply decide to get it moving. There's also the option of choosing to read every boulder moving book you can to distract yourself from the fairly simple, yet uncomfortable task of doing.

I honestly don't believe that the "secret" to success is any more complicated than that. Then again, maybe Newton got whacked on the head a lot harder with that apple than I realize!

A step-by-step way to get your boulder moving :o)
