Default Crossing the Invisible Barrier.... Going From a Salary to Creating a Business....

Around 3 months ago my university contract ended, and I decided to do my best NOT to take salaried employment, at least for a substantial period of time.... I also resolved NOT to take any unemployment benefits.... I knew I had to give it a real chance....

My job ended. I had enough savings to live on for a while, a university payout, got some of my superannuation back, and I also had my stock market investments just in case I needed to sell them to survive....

But the biggest thing that's happened in the last few months is the change in my ATTITUDE. I see myself as a "business person" now.... And when I talk to other people now, there is also a change in their attitude towards me....

There's an "invisible barrier" between salaried employees and businesspeople.... The two are completely different ball-games....

I didn't even realize the barrier existed before. But now that I've crossed it, I've found many doors opening up....

People I just happen to meet (like the guy in the cafe I wrote about earlier) tell me about their business experiences.... It's an education you usually can't buy!

The "invisible barrier" is there, but it is crossable....

Why does it exist? I'm sure part of it was the change in my attitude....

By resolving NOT to take salaried employment, and NOT to get unemployment benefits, I crossed the line to the ATTITUDE of self-sufficiency....

It also could be because when you are a salaried employee, it is hard to understand the difficulties and the risks of business. The two are so incredibly different, especially regarding risk....

So, if a businessperson sees you as another salaried employee, they may be reluctant to tell you things, because they're not sure how you'll react.... Some people can be very judgemental....

There are people in the world who believe all business is "evil" -- believe it or not. It's crazy, since business essentially makes the world go round when you think about it.... All the products around you, almost all the services, and for most people, even your job, would not exist if it wasn't for entrepreneurs....

But, because such attitudes exist, they probably help to create an "invisible barrier"....

I don't think the biz-opp market would even exist if this "invisible barrier" wasn't there.... Or at least, it would be smaller, as information would flow more freely....

Just some food for thought....

How did you go from salaried employment to being in business? It's not an easy step to take.... I'd love to hear some stories on how people made the difficult transition....
