How to Post to the Seeds of Wisdom Forum (and other tips!)

I have been an 'observer' in many forums in an effort to get a feel for how the forums work and also to gain valuable knowledge pertaining to my most recent 'job addition'.

I have not yet found any other forum which gives such clear and useful guidelines to new members pertaining to how to gain maximum benefit from using the forum without (often unknowingly) overstepping boundaries and being labelled as spammers.

Many of us are honestly new to the game of IM and do need some guidelines to ensure that we learn all we can from the experts without wanting to shout out details of our 'achievements' and 'offers' from every roof-top! It is truly refreshing to receive these guidelines upfront. Thank-you for going the extra mile!

I would just like to add that the best guideline anyone can have when in doubt is to respect others and their opinions no matter what. We are all unique and that is truly what makes learning from one another and interacting with one another such a satisfying process. In my experience, this guideline can be applied successfully to all areas of life.

I sincerely look forward to learning from other like-minded individuals within this forum and hope that I too will be able to add some value.

I truly agree with what you wrote. I have been around a few forums and I like having all the rules spelled out simply and easy to understand. There are so many things to learn about our different businesses and it is great to be able to reach out for help and ideas to so many well intentioned associates.

Thanks for providing such a list of rules in such an obvious place. Some forums put their guidelines where they are difficult to find. I hope to be providing some great information for this forum.

Most Important Rules of the Forum

There are only a couple simple rules... Which are:

1. No insults or personal attacks.
2. No blatant ads.

However, adding a "signature" to the end of your post (with a promotional link) is okay and encouraged as long as you don't abuse it!
The most blatant abuse is the drive-by post, also called the "me too" post. Usually new people will try this, they will post several short responses, mostly of the "I like" or "me too" variety and leave their signature links. This will get your signature deleted until you participate more in the forum.
Basic Stuff


How To Reply To A Post: At the end of the post you want to reply to, you'll see a button which says "Quote". Just click on that! (Your post will include a quote from the post you're replying to.) Alternatively, if you want to just make a general reply to the thread, at the end of the thread you'll see a button which says "Post Reply" which you can use.

I find your post very helpful since I'm just new to the forum world. It's just simple like a 7 year old kid can understand the tips yet so powerful enough enough to be followed by an adult. Thanks a lot Dien!

One suggestion: rules for the signature.

I've seen similar forums where signatures have gone out of hand and members adding 12-15 line signatures.

Maybe a 3-5 line signature limit or something would make sense..
