Ken, I'm not sure I see the advantages of this. If I'm off the beaten track there may not be any cellular coverage, but there would be regular phone lines. Also, I get carsick very easily so I will not be making any attempts to connect to the Internet while my husband is driving.

In what situations do you see a cellular modem as really helpful?

I thought you would be off the beaten path without regular phone line connections. Out in the woods, on the beach, etc.

The problem is that if you are REALLY off the beaten path, there are no cell phone towers. But there are usually land phones.
