Post Ways I've made CASH in 2017...

Hello Fellow Sowpubbers,

Since We've reached the mid point of 2017,
it's time to analyze income streams for this year
and set focus on the successes and test other
ideas for the rest of the year.
(Sounds a bit conflicting, eh? )

So, I figured I'd compile a list of My current 2017 successes,
and plans for the rest of the year...

Would love to hear your successes and plans, as well.

So, here it goes:

***
Ways I've made CASH in 2017...
***

These have been My most successful side hustles so far for 2017.
Now that We're half way through the year, I'm looking back to see what has worked for Me so far so I can work on increasing My success for the rest of the year.

1. Craigslist.
Although, it's been really slow, I've gotten 'side hustle' work from posting in the 'Resume' section and the 'household services' sections...
Have also had referrals from some of My ads posted last year...

2. Gold and Jewelry.
Since I decided to do some clean UP in the back room of My house, I found some old, broken jewelry that was just laying waste in a storage bin. (NOT Costume Jewelry... )
Didn't know I could make as much $$$ by collecting old, broken, unused jewelry and cashing it in to a local jeweler.

3. My normal, 'Web Work' w/ clients I've had already...
Haven't had any luck picking UP new Website clients / Video Clients, etc., this year, but still have pay coming in from previous clients...
This has been a bit slow this year, as well, so have to work on getting more clients...

Now, what I have just started working on this month...

1. AirBnB.
I've just listed a room on one of My properties for AirBnB.
I still have some slight modifications to work on for the property, but nothing that can't be completed in the time that a guest can book the room and actually arrive.
Hoping I can get a few good guests from this and have to think of ways to capitalize on the 'back end'... Such as, drive Guests to the local beaches, bring them to the local 'night life' places, etc...
But, First and Foremost, I have to get them IN MY Door!

2. Posting More Ads on CL...
Have some items to sell and barter on My local Craigslist.
Also, posting ads for 'side hustles' such as house-cleaning, lawn mowing, etc...

3. Cashing in on $ change laying around the house, and in the storage bins in the back.
Didn't know I had so much coinage laying around.

Currently searching internet, w/ the limited internet access I've had for the past few months, for other 'side hustle' ideas that I'm able to do that most suits My skills, abilities, and that could utilize the resources I currently have...

What are some things other Sowpub Forum Members have done to make $$$ this year?

Thanks,

Christopher

Hi Christopher,

I have both short term and longer term projects i work on...

I've been involved in info-products for almost a couple decades now... I started out selling info-products as an affiliate, then working with Gordon, then doing some of my own, and finally also acquiring exclusive rights from others. That's something that keeps chugging along in the background for me...

You can find various related links all over Sowpub! I also have several other info-products not "on the market" right now, which I plan on bringing "back" or bringing "to market"...!

One of the longer term projects relates to software and the money transfer industry. It's a business project I'm doing with 4 other people, we all bring a mixture of different skills... I can't talk about it much, but it's still a "startup"...

Another longer-term project I'm working on is to do with the finance industry... There might be an opportunity to get into finance with my own company (possibly with a couple of partners). This is not an easy area, because you generally need a financial securities license / financial services license to to it legally, and they're not cheap or easy to get! But... there are ways to do it, plus I've been building up my connections and experience in this area... (Good connections are VERY important in finance.) Whether it will come to fruition or not, I don't yet know...!

Sorry some of it stays "mysterious" (in the longer term projects, it has to, as I have competitors, and we're not yet "live")... But I hope that gives you an idea!

Best wishes!

Dien

Those all sound like good projects.

I sell cars and have been working on successfully creating an APV with Gordon.

That's about it.

Recently, I have been contemplating the vast difference between the haves and the have-nots. The truth is, the vast majority of people get to retirement age and they have almost no money in their bank accounts.

Almost everyone you see in the world is living from paycheck to paycheck. If they miss one paycheck their whole world turns upside down. Or you have the savers, but they skimp on quality of life so that they can feel security by stocking away a few months' ahead.

But it's not really going anywhere.

And I was reflecting that in many cases, it is either due to not knowing better, or not trying for better.

There's not knowing better, which is just doing what you've been taught.

For instance, if you go the "linear" route, from entry-level to management and beyond, it takes a ton of effort to go from one level to the next, and the only thing you are working yourself into is another job. That you have to work at every day to ensure your next paycheck.

It's the same old paycheck-to-paycheck with a higher budget.

Then there's not trying for better. That is in being satisfied with what you have. While that's possible, what I suspect is more common is in finding some kind of numbing agent to take away the edge at times.

Television is the opiate of the masses, they say. Well, if you watch too much television, you can spend years getting pretty much nothing done. Goofing off at work, complaining, drinking, partying, doing things like that instead of learning what it takes to get ahead and doing something about it.

Those are what really make this possible more than anything. But I am driven. Maybe I have a high tolerance for pain or an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of the truth, an adventurous spirit that must be filled.

Whatever you might call it, I am willing to go through the frustration of failures to reach what is on the other side, and I have faith that there is something worthwhile there.

That there is more out there, beyond the imaginary barriers set up by our society, for someone who is willing to go "against the grain".

I thought that was somewhat related, as I put on my sunglasses for protection and go back to my sales letter with a chainsaw to cut away all of the dead limbs - cut out everything that doesn't sell. Because if it doesn't sell, it doesn't matter. And the only thing that matters is what sells, and that's all I want to have left after I'm done with it.

Selling is the last truly adventurous job in my opinion. Happy selling!

SecretAgentMan - Part of your text contains this paragraph:

I am not disagreeing with the TV is an opiate message. However I'd like to put a spin on it. I usually don't watch commercials. I turn off the volume and wait till the show returns. One day I simply didn't do that for whatever reason and lo and behold up pops an ad that blows me away. Not because it was cute, entertaining, etc but because it contained one sentence.

Blew me away. This company married their core business w/a another core business. I loved it so much I am now trying to do the same thing locally. If the local population loves it then the national population will love it. Or at least that's my thinking.

No one else is doing it. If it works, I"ll lay out the premise and the how to. If not, I'll slink silently into the night with another failed idea hanging off my belt.

I guess what I'm saying is it depends on how, and maybe what, you watch television
