Default The Energy Crisis!!!

Hi all,

Has anyone else experienced this lately?

A burst of creative energy so strong that it's hard to determine where to channel it. It's difficult to focus in order to make the most of it.

Is it just me? I feel like my eyes are going to explode as a result of all the new ideas I'm coming up with.

Default You gave me an idea.... Here it is. What do you think? :)

Hi Paul!

That's an exciting feeling.... :)

I know what you mean.... This happens to me every now and then....

A BURST of excitement and drive, and the feeling there's SO MUCH going on, so much excitement, so many great ideas to work on!!!!!

I've found I usually don't have time to work on ALL of them, which is a pity, because I'd LOVE to do so.... :)

In addition to Sowpub, I have some ideas for other projects too, which I think would succeed....

Which makes me think.... Wouldn't it be great to have a place where we could exchange our ideas, but in a sense, behind closed doors -- so not EVERYONE would be privy to them, but just those who you wanted to know them....

(Ideas can be the most precious things -- when ACTED upon -- but also on the other hand you cannot patent or copyright an idea....)

I know that many of us have a surplus of good ideas, and we just DON'T have time to do them all! But, on the other hand, there are times when you don't have ideas, and some people find it difficult to get started and could use a few ideas....

I'm not sure how such a place could work, but if there was a place where we could share our unused ideas with others, in a way where we can also get something back in return too -- wouldn't that be a great place?

Anyone have any ideas how such a place could be implemented?

The closest thing I can think of might be Bill Myers' "Idea Bank" -- though I never joined. If I remember right, membership cost $995 or so, and Bill's promise was to give you lots of ideas (or something like that).... There's an example of a place where you could get ONE person's extra ideas....

And here's another related place, though again still not quite the same thing.... The Global Ideas Bank, at

www.globalideasbank.org

Surf around -- it can be a very interesting place.... :)

This is a place for people to share ideas on how to help the world become a better place.... SOME of these might be able to be made into products, though that's not the primary focus of the site....

What do others think? Could an "idea sharing" place be a good idea?

I think it would be a great idea, but I'm not sure how such a place could work in the sense where everyone could benefit, without just having a few giving, and most just taking. I think you'd probably want a place where EVERYONE will both give and take equally....

Any ideas? :)

Default Idea room

>
I'm not sure how this could be set up
but you might want to consider having
a private forum room for posting ideas.
And either regularly or periodically
present an analysis of a few of the ideas
posted and a mini marketing plan for that
idea from the RH point of view. This would
be an incentive for people to post ideas because
their idea might be the one chosen for analysis.

You could post on the website home page
or this discussion forum the idea under analysis
for the week or month....

Perhaps someone else can fine tune this idea...

Sandy, I think that's a very interesting idea!

I think this general idea... of some sort of "Idea room" as you've said, may have a future.... Though it does require some more thought....

I also thought of a problem which I think would have to be solved....

I know that I generally don't tell my ideas to just anybody.

For example, there are some people who I feel comfortable telling my ideas to.... I trust them, and also I know that they are open-minded, and will be open-minded to the possibilities.... I don't mind people telling me problems my idea may have, but ONLY if they can back it up with some sort of logical reasoning or some sort of related experience of their own....

On the other hand, there are other people who seem to be closed-minded to anything new. They shoot down any new idea, but when they are questioned there seems to be no real reasoning or experience behind their words.... It turns out to be simple closed-mindedness.

I also have people close to me who are a bit like this.... While I'm still good friends with them, I usually don't tell them my new ideas until I've already started to implement them, since I know that their feedback generally won't help me at all....

I think this is something we'd have to watch for.... Making sure it was a "safe" atmosphere of open-minded people and for truly creative ideas....

There are several people I know who really are incredibly creative, and full of a constant stream of ideas.... It would be great to have an "Idea room" where such people would feel safe to share some of their ideas.... (I know that many participants in this forum are incredibly creative too....)

Even if these ideas are not used by anyone, being in such a creative environment I think could stimulate many people to come up with interesting ideas of their own....

Thank you Sandy for your feedback.... This is an idea I'll be rolling over in the back of my mind, to see if anything interesting and practical comes up.... :)

Cheers,

Dien

P.S. About the interview ideas we talked about earlier, I still plan to try to implement them.... Don't worry, I haven't forgotten, and I'm seeking some more feedback.... :)

A "CyberThinkTank" ;-)

Hmm, you may be onto something there.

I once thought of starting a site similar to what you mentioned above. I'll check to see if the domain name is still available and email it to you if it is. It would have been an open forum for exchanging and developing ideas into viable businesses. I believe the domain name is still available too, if people I've told haven't already registered it without me knowing. And that's where a problem arises.

The problem is greed. Whether it be for money, power, recognition or what have you, it rears it's ugly head and the true originators of the ideas loose out.

If there were a site or organization online where, if an idea were presented it could be developed jointly with all involved, I'd be the first one standing in line for a membership. Incredible power can be unleashed by a collaborative effort.

So when does the site open?

Default How about this for a starting point?

> Excellent idea
Its why inner circles work
But you do have the problem of the givers and the TAKERS
So off the top of my head, this may be a solution.
To become a memer of the think tank and therefore access all the other ideas (not to say experience)there needs to be an entry criteria
My suggestion is that this ought to be at least 2 well reasoned and thought out ideas that should be submitted for approval.
This would ensure that you have to give before you have the opportunity to take
What do you think?

Andy

Very interesting idea....

Thanks for suggesting it....

Hmmm...

Anyhow, my idea is still kind of in the "vague" stage....

The key is, it HAS to be WIN/WIN/WIN in my view for it to work right....

And if it isn't WIN/WIN/WIN, I don't think the idea will work. This is the part which could be difficult.... Making sure it is WIN/WIN/WIN for EVERYONE who participates...

Your idea could be a good one, Andy!

Anyway, like I said, I'm kind of brainstorming out loud here.... I'm grateful for your feedback....

Thanks,

Dien

As they say, great minds think alike.... ;)

I think it would be a great idea, except that there are still some problems which would need to be solved....

I must admit, my main interest is that I think it would be the kind of place I'd like to "hang out" in myself!

Yes, this would be something that would have to be taken care of.... I don't know the best way to do that....

That sounds like a very interesting idea. Though I also know that "too many cooks (can sometimes) spoil the broth" so there probably needs to be some care there too....

By the way, I'm just thinking out loud here.... Whatever I say may be total gibberish, since it hasn't yet been fully thought through.... I'm just brainstorming as we go along, and looking to see what other kinds of ideas others might have for solving these problems....

> So when does the site open?

I wish I knew! It's interesting that there seems to be a lot of other interest in this idea....

Hmmm....

Thanks for your feedback, Paul....
