Re: An OFF KEY answer for you JJS...
Gordon - your post is right on target, as usual:-)
When I was a marketeer at Lockheed, we used to send little gifts and reminders to thousands of clients and potential clients all year long, just to keep the doors open for future contracts. Since these were government clients, the gifts had to be small and worth under $5. However their impacts were amazing - I'd see our calendars, desk paperclip holders, cards etc. on desks and cubicles all the time, reminding them we were thinking of them whether under contract or not. At a minimum, we sent out birthday, Christmas/New Years, Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Happy Spring (one year, wildflower seeds!), 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. My group had one person who's job was to think of creative little gifts and coordinate the mailings. She came up with really clever desk ornaments, booklets, etc., guaranteed to tickle the clients' hearts. Yes, there definitely is no slack season, just slack marketeers:-) But, not readers of this board!!! Bob |
