Word out there is... Insert enough Speculation and one will eventually be right
Phil,
Thanks for the inside scoop. Other words are... => Apple is interested in Twitter => Microsoft is interested in Twitter => Twitter's CEO - Evan Williams, the guy who started Blogger which he sold to Google and then later left Google - has been in talks with Google about ??? BUT he has also gone on record as saying he believes Twitter will remain independent; While Google is on record as saying you don't have to Buy everything you can come to work-together arrangements Twitter's advantage is Momentum and Existing Users. Just about ALL newspaper in Oz have Follow Us On Twitter somewhere on their site; news sources also follow people (prof journalists as well as civi journos for obtaining real time news and info). The CNN vs Ashton Kutcher race to one million followers was tremendous free publicity for Twitter. Oddly, Twitter, as far as I know, doesn't allow people to add Google Ads to their own profiles. Nor does Twitter put them on - which, while not making them money, keeps true numbers hidden from Google (if Google knew how much could be made from their ads any offer from them may not be as high as otherwise made). Interesting to see what Google comes up with when it goes to public beta Michael Ross http://twitter.com/mrossonline Last edited by MichaelRoss : June 1, 2009 at 08:54 PM. |

Like Friend Connect but more...
This is the Google Wave page http://wave.google.com/
I know Google has been trying in ways to get into Social Networking. I think their Google Friends Connect was an attempt at that. And At first glance without getting into the nitty or spending time watching the 1 hour 20 minute video, Wave looks like a version of that but on steroids. Michael Ross |

Re: Word out there is... Insert enough Speculation and one will eventually be right
You have to Wonder sometimes at What the Future of the Google business model will really look like...
They just seem to Continually go all over the place with their Big ideas... Guess when you're Eventually going to Own the World... You only Need a few Winning business ideas that bring in the Gold... Test... Test... Test... Keep the Winners! ... Kill the losers... Can't beat having a Pile of Good Tax write-offs... Here's another Quick one on Google biting away at the Competition once again... A real challenge for the Kindle http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/to...he-kindle.aspx By the way, came across another interesting article... On the Street and On Facebook: The Homeless Stay Wired Mr. Pitts Lacks a Mailing Address But He's Got a Computer and a Web Forum They say Everyone out there These days has a Double in one form or another... Maybe a long lost relative... Interesting to say the least.... We live in Exciting times... And it Doesn't always take big bucks to live a Good simple life... Michael Ross creates his own electricity, with a gas generator perched outside his yellow-and-blue tent. For a year, Mr. Ross has stood guard at a parking lot for construction equipment, under a deal with the owner. Mr. Ross figures he has been homeless for about 15 years, surviving on his Army pension. Inside the tent, the taciturn 50-year-old has an HP laptop with a 17-inch screen and 320 gigabytes of data storage, as well as four extra hard drives that can hold another 1,000 gigabytes, the equivalent of 200 DVDs. Mr. Ross loves movies. He rents some from Netflix and Blockbuster online and downloads others over an Ethernet connection at the San Francisco public library. One evening recently, Mr. Ross lay down on his sleeping bag and watched an X-Men cartoon on the laptop, listening through headphones over the roar of the generator. When he travels downtown, he takes all the gear with him for safekeeping. His backpack bulges with cords and bubble-wrapped electronic gadgets. Mr. Ross says he doesn't notice the weight. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124363359881267523.html Phil Last edited by Phil : June 2, 2009 at 04:17 AM. Reason: additional info |

Re: Word out there is Twitter waited too long to sell... Introducing Google Wave...
Like most social media trends of the internet, teenagers and young adults formed the front lines and propelled Twitter to stardom, and now it's been consumed by the business world.
This trend is neither sad nor happy, good nor bad, it merely is what it is. Myspace went through the same thing; it's still widely used, but by more of a business oriented crowd. There will be another trend for the teens, don't worry. As for Google... well, soon we'll all have Google bar codes tattooed on our necks so that the Hegemon can find us at all times. (I'm Brian by the way, I'm new and this is my first post. I'm a landlord and real estate investor, with a legal forms background, and I can't wait to see you all around!) Cheers, |
