Battery Reconditioning Business

I came across a business that seems unique: battery reconditioning. I have been trying to decide whether the business is a winner. There is a guy who sells an ebook for fifty bucks, and he claims the business has six-figure potential. I wrote the guy asking how he came up with his projection but didn't get a response. Perhaps my email landed in his Spam folder. I found a number of websites that favorably reviewed the ebook, but since none of them actually put the information to use, and since they always posted links that probably results in their getting affiliate income, I have become skeptical.

This sounds like a winner, in theory, but is it actually doable? Opinions are welcome.

One of my brothers started an "Auto Battery Reconditioning" business in Chgo in the early 70's.

He got FREE batteries from other businesses....cleaned them up, recharged them and sold them. He had 2 employees. Made enough to start his own Auto Parts biz. Made enough to buy an apartment bldg...then 2....then 3.

Retired now.

In my opinion, this biz could still be activated today. It's a dirty biz but I'll bet you could get used batteries for next to nothing or even free.

All depends on HOW MUCH you can get nowadays for "Reconditioned Batteries". Some big cities should have one or 2 of these shops.

Ya never know unless ya try.

I talked with someone who used to assist in a business like this and he said it is not a home type of business because of the chemicals and fire hazards. So, if you have a safe place to do it, do check the laws.

The owner went out of business when the laws were changed and made it impossible for him to continue there. He couldn't find another place to move to and the disposal of parts and chemicals became problematic. Be sure to do your investigation pretty thoroughly before investing is my advice.

Oh, also be aware that exposure, especially long term, to some of the products in the newer types of batteries especially, can be hazardous to your health.

Hey! There are now 5,000 people who have lost their jobs in my small area of the country. Over 12% Unemployment. Even our local Indian Casino gave severance pay to 51 workers today. (Even GAMBLING is feeling the ravages of this downturn)

This year will mark that old phrase; "When the going gets tough, the TOUGH get going!"

Many folks just "whine" about their "situation" and hope they can find something to do before their Unemployment runs out. A small percentage decide to DO something.

One guy who lost his job a few months ago asked me if I knew of a way he could make some money to support his wife and 4 kids AND...to "save his house"!

I asked him if he would be willing to "work evenings"....like...."8pm to 4am"?

He responded with, "Hey! If I gotta shovel "s---" I'll do it.

So....I told him their are parking lots around our area that Managers of these lots would PAY to have cleaned of TRASH. I told him there are 2 companies that do the "Big Stuff"....however....there are MANY smaller parking lots that are too small for the Big-Boys to bother with. THIS is where he comes in.

I told him I'd help him get the jobs if he'd be willing to do the work...from 8 at night on. AND....I told him I'd show him how to make a Special Trash Picker-Upper that would make his "Clean-Up" job easier and faster.

He agreed. So...we met the next morn and I proceeded to "sell jobs for him".

I got Apartment Complexes, Bowling Alley, Small Strip Malls, Video Rentals, Mini-Markets, small department stores, restaurants, hardware stores, lumber yards, banks....anywhere there's parking for cars.

He then went out and got his own jobs so that, as of last Friday, when we met for lunch he told me he is now making $300 A NIGHT....6 Nights a week, $1,800 a WEEK! And....he is going to hire a helper so he can get his gross up to $600a night.

So....2009 will NOT be the same as 2008, financially. Many folks will be hurt, financially. HOWEVER....there are some who will actually PROSPER. It all depends on "YOU"!

You're absolutely correct on this one. Out this way, where winters are usually extremely mild, we're getting the worst winter in 50 years...

But people who realize you have to work to make money...

Many are coming up with some small snow removal bobcats etc. and putting themselves to work at an average of $80. per hour with a minimum of 2 hours plus traveling time to each destination. A $1,000. a day on the average ain't too shabby for a little bit of work...

Here's another interesting business model I recently came across... Study the Not so new idea including Shawn Hanaee's newspaper startup...

Easily duplicatable for anyone who realizes that you have to work to make money...

Just talked to a buddy in the Spokane, WA area where they got SIX FEET of snow dumped in a short period.

They called out the National Guard to get snow off roofs to try and prevent roofs from collapsing.

My friend is an "entroopreneer" from way back AND.....he can spot a "Business Opportunity" when he sees one.

Even though the Washington National Guard have been activated to "clean snow off roofs"....guess what category is "LAST" on the Guard's agenda?

Yup! Private Homes. And....guess who is willing to pay $100 or more (depending on area of roof)....to have snow swept off their roofs?

Yup! (You folks are SOOOO Smart) You got it; Private Homes in the affluent burbs.

Sooo....guess who is collecting $3,500 a day with his "roof snow removal biz"?

Yup....Jimmy J and his 2 grandsons and neighbor.

So....when the "opportunity is there" the Entroopeneers are ready and able.
