Default Guerrilla Marketing? A Publicity Stunt gone Bad & who Pays the $750,000+ Costs etc.?

A Few marketing Lessons in this one EH!

Including some units being sold on ebay...

The Big Question is Why didn't this Happen in other Cities where it was also being Promoted?

Do the Big Turner Broadcasting guys take the "Heat" on this one...

The Marketing company Or the 2 little guys who were just Doing a Job...

Hi Phil,

Turner Broadcasting announced today that THEY would pay the costs involved with this little PR stunt.

Odd thing is, this stunt has been going on around the country for a number of weeks. Only the good folks of Boston went into the panic mode.

I wonder if they ever imagined that they would generate this much publicity?

Almost makes me wonder if someone from Turner Broadcasting didn't call the police and "tip them off" to the potential threat when it seemed that the stunt wasn't generating enough response...

Default Voodoo Duck And The Havoc And Hijinks Marketing System

First of all anyone who has lived in Boston like I have
would know the city is jam packed with pranksters.

You have no idea how many MIT alum have
pent up desires to be smartasses.

Does anyone remember the Voodoo Duck prank?

Wrote about it once.

Called it:

Can Ivy League Rich Kids Cause This Much Havoc
And High Jinks...And Get Away With It Everytime?

MIT has a looooooong traditon of pranks.

If you want more info on really hardcore
hoax marketing check out:

And finally in honor of Groundhogs Day if you'd like to insure that there is no shadow of doubt what do with this stuff to get noticed the right way this might be perfect to pay homage again to the dearly departed
Mischief Marketer

PS. This whole thing was a setup. That cartoon network and CNN are owned by the same company yet CNN keeps reporting about some unknown plot. Ya think the cartoon folks couldn't call up to CNN and tell them what's going on. Heck they probably work down the office from one another at the headquarters in Atlanta so somebody could have just walked over to the CNN studio.
