Default Another way I’ve been making some easy money is by making “A Frame signs.”

Another way I’ve been making some easy money is by making “A Frame signs.” What I do is go to Lowes & buy one piece of plywood, 4’X8” and I have them cut it for me into 4 - 2’X4’ pieces. So I can make 2 signs from 1 piece of plywood. Then I buy some cheap hinges & some white paint. Then I go to my shop & screw two hinges to the top of two boards & paint them white. Takes about 15 minutes.

Then I place a ad on Craigslist in the business section that looks like this:

HEADLINE: 2'X4' SIGN - $65

Large 2'X4' Freestanding A-Frame Sidewalk Sign Board.
Just attach your sign to each side and advertise.
An affordable and effective way to bring people into your business.
Great for restaurants, pubs, video stores, repair shops, jewelry stores and service stations, real estate agents.
Nice, white surface & ready for vinyl lettering, painting or simply adhering posters.
Handmade solid wood construction, metal hinges.
You can search around online and buy them anywhere from $80 to over $200 plus $10 to $20 for shipping.
This One's ONLY $65

I don’t want the ad to look like I’m in the business of making signs because it will get flagged. I want it to look like a guy who has a sign he don’t need anymore.

That’s it. I was selling 2 to 6 signs a week. The signs cost around $15 to make so the profit is $50 a sign.

Hope someone can use this info to help out their family.

Thank You,
Jason Hatchet

An extra 100 to 300 a week is pretty good for such a simple idea. By simple I mean easy to execute.

Congratulations on using the noggin and gettin the green.

I'll post a photo when I take another one. I lost my hard drive about a week ago & lost a bunch of picture. I have a couple of signs in my shop & when I get home tonight I'll take a photo of it.

Thank You,

Wow, thanks Jason!

Another fantastic, excellent "bread and butter" idea, that almost anyone could do...

And the "risk" is next-to-nothing.

Thank you for sharing that!

Again, there are plenty of opportunities around us... For those with a bit of "get up and go" there's no reason why they can't supplement their income (or create a new income) by implementing these (and other) ideas!

Best wishes!

Dien

Hi Jason,

Great idea! Just making and selling a minimum of 2 per week would make a huge difference in anybody's life. Just that alone would pay my electric and cable/tv/internet each month!

Have you ever thought about renting a few out? Maybe that isn't even doable with these boards, I'm not sure, but if it is, would you consider that? Personally, I would just buy the sign, but people rent anything these days. Just wondering.

Hi Rick,

I don't know if I'd personally do that. I'd rather just sell them, get the money & be done with the deal. But I guess you could try it if you wanted.

Thanks,

Hello,

What thickness of plywood do you use, 1/2, 3/4? Thanks

Jason, thanks for the great post. I was wondering... it looks like you have a 1"x4" piece at the top where it hinges? Is that correct? I'm looking to build one (maybe more). Thanks again.

Fred
