Two Australian Entrepreneurs Follow In Footsteps of 1950's Entrepreneur The Gold Coast, Australia -- In the spirit of George Haylings, an entrepreneur who published a business ideas newsletter in the 1950s and 1960s, two successful Australian entrepreneurs, Michael Ross and Dien Rice, have launched "The Great Ideas Letter," a weekly publication which provides at least four new business ideas each issue for budding entrepreneurs and others looking for opportunities to start a new business. Some of the ideas which have recently been covered include selling socks, pantyhose and light bulbs by subscription, making regular deliveries of instant and ground coffee to offices, and providing overnight online digital photo galleries of parties and weddings. "The Great Ideas Letter" is sent to subscribers through email. "We find it's quicker than traditional mail and our subscribers seem happy with instant delivery," says Michael Ross, the co-publisher of The Great Ideas Letter. They also spend their own money and test the viability of some of the ideas they write about. "Some people can be a little reluctant to take action on the ideas we present, so we start some of the ideas we write about and then reveal our results for our subscribers to see," continues Ross. The two business partners have complementary backgrounds. Ross has spent many years as a business and marketing consultant and owns several businesses, while Rice has several years' experience as a business web site developer. Together, they are able to cover many practical ideas in both the "bricks and mortar" world as well as online. And the subscribers like the publication. "So far, the response has been enthusiastic," adds Dien Rice, the co-publisher of The Great Ideas Letter. "That's because many people have the ability to run a business, but find it hard coming up with business ideas. And that's where 'The Great Ideas Letter' comes in." Rice also says, "We wanted to go back to the original spirit of George Haylings and the business ideas newsletter he used to publish in the 1950s and 1960s. Because a business ideas letter was no longer available we wanted to give back to people what had been lost when George Haylings stopped publishing."
