Australian Newsletter Publisher Achieves Zero Cost Publishing The Gold Coast, Australia -- In a daring move to eliminate costs, the publishers of "The Great Ideas Letter" are going where no other publisher has gone before. They are publishing their weekly business newsletter in Portable Document Format (PDF) only. When a document is turned in a PDF file, the end user sees the exact same layout and formatting which was displayed on the computer of the person who created the file. So even if the end user does not have the same software which was used to create the document, they can still read it as it was intended to be seen and read. PDF works on both PCs and Macs. And it is this flexibility which led, in part, to PDF being chosen as the prefered method of publication by the publishers. There were other factors too. "The biggest costs associated with publishing a business newsletter are the printing and distribution costs," says Michael Ross, co-publisher of The Great Ideas Letter. "By publishing in PDF we totally eliminate printing and mailing costs altogether." They also have more time to put each issue together because their dealine is extended. "We can make last minute changes to the layout and wording. And we can make these change literally minutes before we distribute The Great Ideas Letter to our readers," continues Ross. "Publishing in PDF gives us extra time... time we wouldn't have if we had to print and mail the publication." US readers of "The Great Ideas Letter" receive their issues each Wednesday morning. That means the publishers are up late at night in their home country of Australia making sure the subscribers get The Great Ideas Letter on time. Dien Rice, the other co-publisher of The Great Ideas Letter adds, "Not only does publishing in PDF give us more time to get each issue out, and cut down on our costs, it enables us to have subscribers right around the globe. If we had to mail the publication it could take some subscribers up to two weeks to receive it. And that is not satisfactory. PDF gives our subscribers 'instant gratification' wherever they live."
