Newspapers used to have something called "morgues". This is where they kept all of their back editions. With the Internet and other modern communicatin channels they may have actually made a morgue into a morgue. It would be worth a call to your local paper to see if they still maintain this animal. If so, you could probably find a ton of tear sheets.
