Default I disagree...
I choose keywords that have AT LEAST 30,000 searches per month.

It's still obtainable. Even if you get ranked on page 2, you'll still receive 800-1000 visits a day.

I don't think that you'll get enough traffic/sales to do $10K-$15K a month if your main keywords only get one thousand searches a month.
