One thing which arises in my mind is giving a reason why...

Why are you giving a 25% discount?

I believe the research (e.g. Cialdini) shows that giving a reason why will make people more likely to agree to your request (which here is to buy your products)!

I believe that the reason why should be truthful, which makes it more difficult... (I believe in truth in marketing... )

One way is to tie it into a special occasion... E.g. I'm giving a discount... to celebrate Halloween, to celebrate election day, to celebrate Thanksgiving, to celebrate the end of the year, to celebrate my birthday, to celebrate my dog's birthday, etc.

For example, did you know that today (Oct. 27) is National Tell a Story Day in the UK?

Wow! I wished I'd looked that up earlier and used it myself...

(National Tell a Story Day in the USA is apparently on April 27!)
