Even better if you can include them in the goal. One thing to keep in mind is allowing the goal to "shift". As you begin to spend the time with the family you may find your priorities changing.

It's interesting how certain events will trigger major changes. A tornado hitting 30 feet away 18 floors up did it for me. I know last September had a major impact on some of the people on this forum.
